Ok we got beyond the lap-top incident at UFla and then the player for hire saga which Cam apparently knew nothing about. It really appears to me that this guy has been modeled and believes the rules are meant to be broken. His father agreed to stay away from the BCS game as part of the deal to keep Cam clean. He clearly was there at the game as Cam scanned the stands and found him right after the game.

His lawyer says that Cecil showed up at the end of the game. Oh really? He left his TV at a hotel and made his way into the game missing the last half hour just to get there by games end? You guys know how long that would take just having walked in from a tailgate party. And how lucky of Cam to have scanned tens of thousands of people to know right where his dad was going to be. Pllllllease.

Then I heard yesterday that Cam was instructed by coach Chizik during the timeout to take a knee to run the clock down to :01 before they kicked the game winning field goal and he deliberately ignored the order and tried to run it in. He believes he is bigger than the game and the coaches which is going to take a long time to break him of that at the next level if it can be at all.

I don't know why but his arrogance reminds me a little of Maurice Clarett as a freshman talking about being the Michael Jordan of football and suing the NFL to challenge the three year out of high school eligibility rule.

Cam is way smarter and smoother than Clarett but the impression of being above the law and authority is really starting to tarnish that shiny image that could be very marketable.

OT: Having nothing to do with Cam Newton but...

Don't you wish that Chizik had the guts to go for it instead of kicking the easy field goal? I know I did!

Sure there is a lot at stake in the BCS Championship game, but that's part of the problem, imo. Auburn (Chizik) couldn't afford to risk the game by going for the TD. But it sure would have been more fun if they would have! I was looking for Oregon to stuff them at the goal line and the game to go into overtime...

That is extremely worrisome, the fact that he ignored his coach's instructions and ran his own play. Just makes me even more positive that we should stay far, far away from him.

I just read that San Fran is interested in him. Man, I hope they get him.

I have heard that and more. Bad practice player and uncoachable.

That kid is still kind of immature.

There will be a big curve for him the next couple years.

I'd rather have Young than him, for sure.

Wow, people are sure willing to go far out on a limb to hate on a guy. Why not just say that you don't like his skills?

Hating on a player because his dad came to his last college game? If this were Andrew Luck, that last play would be about his desire to win or whatever.

If it was, but it isn't.

Comparing him to Clarett is ridiculous...

At worst he is Reggie Bush... They better hope Cam doesn't go to Niners.

I am not hating on him. I hope he turns out to be great for someone outside our division but there are some serious generational character issues. The arrogance of getting out of the play for hire deal by in part agreeing to stay away from the program and then not doing so and lying about it through your lawyer is not teaching Cam anything about integrity. Hopefully it turns out to be a seasonal lapse of judgment but my fear is this is who these guys are. Hope not because he has a lot of charisma and huge potential.

Cam has zero control over his father; ZERO.

Cam may be guilty of loving his father regardless of his father's apparent faults and flaws.

Can't pin that on Cam; it was the most important moment in his life and his father chose not to miss it and Cam probably still wants to share it with him.

I think it is that simple.

I am not talking about his perfomance, I am talking about his "trouble" factor.

Both athletes had parents who step way over the line that is it...

Cam is not a felon like Clarett FCOL.

He is not an evil person. He is not into drugs or beating his girlfriend, etc as some college players have been arrested for.

He will be a first round pick but is a project that will need time to develop.
I don't see him as a top 5 pick nor the Cards taking him.
I think all the qbs in the draft would be a reach at #5 but we still have the Senior Bowl and the Combine which can certainly change things.

I don't. Some people think not getting caught in a lie is the same as telling the truth.

BTW, Cam lied his way out of U of Florida.

Show of hands of people here in their early 20's would be more apt to cover for their parents than to rat them out?

Does that make us bad people? By keeping his mouth shut, Cam is sheilding his father and I think most of us would be inclined to do so as long as the relationship with our parents are on good terms.

Well.....

Not that Cecil Newton Sr. apparently cares. For someone who the NCAA found tried to sell his son, he’s never admitted any wrongdoing, at least publicly.

If anything, his appearance at Monday night’s BCS Championship Game spoke plenty about him. It was an act of blatant defiance.

One that once again raises questions about Auburn’s commitment to adhering to NCAA rules. Before the game, Auburn athletic director Jay Jacobs told reporters that Cecil Newton Sr. would not be in attendance by mutual agreement.

But by being here, Cecil Newton Sr. was once again right in the middle of everything, as he’s seemingly been all season. It’s a stigma that Auburn’s tried to rid itself of, but one that was reinforced forever Monday night.

Following X-rays on his back after the game, an aching Cameron Newton climbed on the back of a golf cart with an Auburn official. Asked what it was like to embrace his father after the game, the official told him not to answer the question.

With a smirk, Newton shook his head and was driven away. Expected to enter the NFL draft, the Heisman Trophy winner likely played his last game for Auburn.

Newton’s silence Monday night was just as telling as his father’s. It’s yet another reason why much of college football is asking whether Auburn will keep its national championship.

Clarett's only NFL sin was running 4.7 and 4.8 in the 40 at the combines. Dude was just had the right combo of size and speed to excel at the college level, but it was pretty obvious he wasn't an NFL running back. If he ran even a 4.5 he'd be in the NFL today.

If Newton runs a 4.75, that puts him in the upper percentile of QBs. Then you still have his size and arm. The questions for him will definitely be attitude and ability to learn. Good luck to NFL teams trying to figure that out.

I don't think Newton is someone to be concerned about off the field. He hasn't had any known run-ins with women or alcohol, although some teams will still be worried because any character issue becomes a holistic concern.

Looked pretty good as he was racing 46 and 83 yards for TDs against the Cards in the playoffs.

The ultimate goal is to win the SB. He has a ring so I'd say his career is just fine.

Anything against a Cards defense just plain and simply doesn't count.

It counted to me, as a Cards fan...

As far as being eliminated? Sure. it counted to us.

As far as making Reggie Bush a great or even good player? Not in the least.
