I think that Warner eventually gets to the RB, and will go to him if that's what the play calls for (which happened with both Faulk and Barber), but it certainly seems like Warner would rather force the ball to a guy 15+ yards into his route than dump it off to an outlet WR.
I've noticed that too and something that I've come up with is the type of routes that the RB's were/are running. I don't think Warner likes to throw to a RB that's just standing in the flat or over the middle. He likes them on the move to take advantage of mismatches and optimize the yardage. Many times I saw Edge chip block, sneak out of the backfield and then plant himself in the middle of the field. It's just a guess of course, but I don't think Warner will take that option because of the almost automatic short yardage result. I think he'll throw it short if it has a chance to lead to something more but not when the RB's just going to get immediately pounded by LB's.

For my next trick, I'll be predicting lottery numbers...

I agree. However the point I was trying to make was that Palmer had a great NFL season rather quickly while Green languished for several years before coming into his own with the Chiefs and that we of course get the guy that is going to take 5-8 years to develop into a star NFL QB.
I agree with your point but don't think Green is a good example. His first year as a starter(2nd year in the league) he put up 23 TD 11 INT. To me, he was pretty productive right away. Missed '99 with the knee but came back in '00 put up 16/5 with the GSOT. His first year in KC was rough but overall he was productive from the beginning of his actual time on the field.

True but it was several years before he really got his chance to be a top QB, riding the pine for most of his early career. And I have to use him as an example because most QBs don't get that kind of time to develop and I think that is what is going to happen with Leinart.

Matt was drafted by the Cards so he will struggle until they finally trade him to someone else and in his 8th or 9th season in the NFL he'll start consistently playing like he did in the 4th quarter against the Bears. Its just the Cardinal Carma.

I feel your pain but if he pans out, it's going to be this year. There really is something to the 3 year mark for QB's. Not all QB's take that long but the one's who need a little developing all seem to click at the 3 year mark. I want Warner to beat him out but Leinart's got everything in place for him this year. Success won't be a surprise. If Whis can get Arizona to remotely resemble what he had in Pittsburgh, Leinart will be well insulated and be allowed to manage games which plays to his strengths and past success.

Thanks to everybody for updates. Bob Kemp's opinions are worth hearing. Right now, every observer's views are interesting to me.

Everybody has a filter. Kemp, Shane, Somers and all of us. So the more eyes, the better. We get to sift opinions. If you go to camp, give us what you think you saw, please.

Wish I was there.

Exactly. I found myself earlier sitting at the computer and fuming out loud about how Leinart is all set to bust because of a few reports...when I(uncharacteristically) stopped and considered myself, aghast at how quick I was flying off the handle. It's early in camp and a lot of opinions and reactions are being given on how we're practicing, and I want to try not to go crazy getting happy or upset at this point of camp.

That's logical but the original statement makes even less sense when looking at the numbers.

In the first four games in '07(Leinart starts), Edge had a total of 6 receptions and from what I can see, only twice with more than 2 in a game with Leinart at QB. The last 4 games in '07, he had 12 with Warner. As the coaches and players adjusted to their first year together, he started getting more receptions.

Not really. That amounts to 3 out of a total of 30 or so thrown each game. He still doesn't throw to the RB's very much, but then again, I wouldn't expect him to. Regardless, saying Warner dosen't throw to the RB's is a misnomer. He doesn't have to as he has other more efficient options.

Since I am in Chicago. The updates would be very short.

I'll let you critique my update that I'll post Thursday morning. No way will I do it at 11:30 Wed night, or whenever I get home.

Thanks for the update. Maybe I'm just anxious but it seems to me that the NFL network is really a let down thus far. I thought that each year we would all see more and more training camp coverage and it doesn't seem like there's any more than last year.
Agreed. I am so sick of watching other team's old playoff games.
