I saw the Cards were able to sign Kerwynn Williams again. How does a back capable of running for 100 yards in a game continually get ignored by every other team?

I am not certain of this, Harry, but I think KW was confident he was going to get re-signed by the Cardinals. He did go and try out for the Seahawks a couple of weeks ago---but I do not think he was disappointed they went with C.J. Spiller.
The knock against him is his size---but, as we have seen, his size is deceptive. His lower body and legs are more powerful than what his size suggests.

I have often wondered that too. I also wonder why the Cardinals keep cutting him over Taylor. If you have that much faith in Taylor then why even bring Williams back. And the funny thing is if push comes to shove Williams will be in the back field before Taylor.

It's the same as the WR5 argument we have every TC, where he think that Shipley, Powell, Golden, etc. will never clear waivers but they always do. Every team likely has a outlying RB they like either on their PS or on the couch, at least until November.

Same old argument---but 4.9 ypc isn't average---which makes Harry's question all the more puzzling.
This time around one could argue whether he should have made the roster over Ellington, who has been flat=out uninspired and embarrassingly soft.
If Ellington was such a competitor, he should have used what Tavon Austin did as huge motivation---as in, oh yeah, they are going to be talking about me in the papers, not you. Instead, Ellington's meek effort on the ensuing kickoff said all there needs to be said about him.
Ellington doesnt appear to want to play football anymore. I wouldnt take too much stock in williams average. If that was truly legit, he would have been signed in a hearbeat.

It is over 2 years...4.9 and 4.8...what's not legit about that? The 4.9 two years ago was with an OL that was not very good in the run game. He hits the hole and runs hard.

Some players are great, or good, or solid, or what have you not matter what scheme, or situation they are put in.
Some players are only those things within a particular system. DeMarco Murry being a great example of that. In a system like the Cowboys he is a beast, in a system like Chip Kelly he is useless. It even applies to defense were a player like Byron Maxwell was a good player for the Seahawks, but has really, really struggled in other systems.
Kerwynn Williams is a good back in Arians' system. That is my guess.
Sometimes it IS the system that makes the player what he is. It will forever be why I think Dan Marino was better than Joe Montana. I believe Marino would be good in any system, and I would not say the same thing about Joe Montana. Both great, but for different reasons, and situations.

its over 80 total carries though. Thats why the ypc doesnt mean a lot.

Just a wild-assed guess, but I think there may be a "wink & nod" relationship between some teams and a small cluster of players hovering around roster #50 and #56; specifically:
"We're thinking about cutting you, Dude, but you know we love you, and based on past experience, the odds strongly indicate that at least one or two guys at your position will get injured and you'll see a lot of playing time - if you'd be willing to forego an aggressive job search and trust us to do the right thing, I think we can work out something that will be very much in your best interest."
Etc.

Kerwynn is a good runner, but he's not great at pass blocking or catching the ball out of the backfield. He's also not good on special teams... although his kick returns would be better than Ellingtons.

That is my take too. If you're going to make an NFL roster at RB you either need to be good enough to be the fulltime RB if needed, or you have to be versatile and do a bunch of things.
DJ is the fulltime RB, CJ was the backup who if needed was good enough to be the fulltime RB. The Cards thought(hoped) AE would be the versatile guy, RB, catches, returns, so far hasn't done much hope he steps up now. Taylor is a versatile guy, short yardage guy, good blitz pickup, catches the ball well enough, good ST player, one of the few guys you can typically rely on to be where he's supposed to be on coverage whether he makes the tackle or not.
Williams is a good runner but he's not a proven receiver, not a proven blocker and hasn't done much of anything on ST so he's only valuable to a team if they need him as the RB or the immediate backup.
With CJ out, he's the backup so he gets promoted. If and when CJ comes back unless he's done something really exceptional he probably gets dropped again. I imagine other NFL teams see him the same way.

We have only two running backs for the game with Stanton as the QB. I can't wait to see Shipley elevated to running back in the fourth quarter lol
