Of course we can. Our team all around is much improved from last year. They are confident but not cocky.

He was on the road to being cut by the Bills. Basically the Bill took Mooch for something they were going to give away.

He will be no help on Sunday, still unpacking his fragiles. But run him out there anyway...please.

Gary has rushed for only 455 yards since he rookie campaign due to a pair of leg injuries. He suffered a knee injury in the 2000 season opener and a broken leg ended his 2001 campaign after 11 games.

I was going to argue with you Skorp.

Runningback is clearly a strong advantage for us, along with our "healthy" offensive line.

But then reading on the Kitties, DL is there strength.

With a front four consisting of Robert Porcher, Shaun Rogers, Dan Wilkinson and James Hall, the Lions know they have to first neutralize the Arizona ground game led by Emmitt Smith. The second step is to get pressure on quarterback Jeff Blake and force him to throw to a set of receivers in Larry Foster, Bryan Gilmore and Jason McAddley who have limited experience and a combined 79 career receptions amongst them. They also have two rookies in Bryant Johnson and Anquan Boldin running routes.

The addition of Wilkinson has been big so far as it alleviates the pressure the unit faced when Luther Elliss was lost until Week Six. Millen just hopes the defensive line unit is the strength it is perceived to be.

"I hope it turns out to be that way," Millen said. "From every indicator, it looks like it could be. We are going to have to rely on them a bunch."

The good news is that it appears second-year defensive end Kalimba Edwards will be able to play. He missed most of training camp and all of the preseason games due to a sports hernia injury.

"Kalimba has been practicing and we will use him," Millen said. "It will probably be a little more limited than it will be down the road. He is coming off the ball and doing all of those little things that I like to see."

Guess what? This game is decided in the trenches. Particullarly, our O-Line against their D-Line.

Cobourne may not be in the Cards
A difficult decision might have become easier, but not in a good way. Head coach Steve Mariucci was laboring over who start at tailback in Sunday's season opener against Arizona, and a lingering hamstring injury keep one of the three out of the game. Rookie Avon Cobourne did not practice Friday and is now listed as questionable on the injury report.

Maybe Joey can run the ball too...

The Lions already know what Foster can do. Not enough. That's why he's not here anymore.

As for Coubourne, it's a mild shin problem, not a hamstring. He will likely get some spot duty on Sunday, just not play fulltime. Not to worry. Gary and Bryson should be adequate against that front 7.

Regarding the Lions game - Both teams enter the season different from the teams that finished last season and, therefore, should have huge questionmarks emblazoned on their helmets.

I think Detroit (because of injuries that depleted their secondary, WR and RB) has more glaring weaknesses and holes in their rosters than we do.

And, other than C Rogers (or the outside possibility that Harrington goes on an insane hot streak) I don't think they have the impact guys who can flip the game in their direction.

Compared to the way they ended last year, Cards are improved in all areas of the roster except for CB and depth at DT.

I've never been right before, but I think we're 10 points better than the Lions (maybe 6 or 7 if you concede 3 - 4 points for home-field advantage inside the dome).

I like 30 - 24 Cardinals.
