Yes, but what the mods/admins don't acknowledge is that it's the sanctioned hostility of Cardinals-Lakers fans that make this forum so problematic. This is the only forum where members who are close to the board's administration can come in and trash the home team and its fans with impunity. That's why Suns fans are so grumpy.

Just imagine for a moment if you had a Suns-Steelers fan who lived in Phoenix and was a great guy on this forum, but who ripped the Cardinals to shreds with every post on the NFL forum about how great the Steelers are and how much the Cardinals suck. How long do you think he'd last? And yet we face the equivalent issue on this forum all the time.

Then why is it that even Laker fans that come here and treat the home fans with respect, still get treated like crap? Even if you respect the Suns, don't talk smack about them, don't gloat when they lose, etc, people here still rip you. After posting on the Cardinal forum during the football season, I thought this was a really great board, and I expected a mutual and respectful exchange on this forum, but it seldom happens.

I'll never understand why Suns fans are so hostile. A lot of us respect the Suns and consider them a very elite team, but still it doesn't matter. On this forum, you either totally support the Suns or people don't like you, it's weird.

Wow. I had no idea that this was the underlying thing here. Thanks for the inside information. Now I can say this:

Cardinals SUCK. Go Rams!

Actually I don't recall ever treating you like crap, although we do have a major disagreement on the Fisher issue.

Of course there are some knee-jerk homers on this board, but you get that anywhere.

You haven't, no. You seem like a pretty good guy, I didn't mean you. And lately, I have been more combative myself because I just got sick of taking crap, and that's my fault.

I guess I just don't get all the downright hatred of the Lakers and their fans. For the last 2 years, the Lakers have been no threat to the Suns at all. The Spurs however play dirty against the Suns, injure their players, their fans gloat about it, and still the Suns fans hate the Lakers the most. You would think that San Antonio would be public enemy #1 but they aren't. Is it just because the Spurs aren't winning as much as LA this year?

In the end, I guess it's probably easier to just accept the fact that people here are going to hate LA and because of that they are going to cheer for injuries, make up conspiracy theories and just generally feel they are disrespected by the opposition. I can't speak for all Laker fans of course, but most of us respect the Suns. You guys beat us fair and square 2 years in a row, and you have a chance to do it again this year. If you win, I'll offer you the congratulations you deserve. If we win, you won't hear a word of gloating from me, that shows no class at all. I honestly wish that Suns fans and Laker fans could just enjoy the game and stop bashing each other, but I think I'll have a better chance of negotiating a treaty between Israel and Palestine.

Yeah it's like the board is full of Suns fanatics who come here to talk about the Suns or something.

For the record, I would expect nothing but hostility (with the occasional side of rational discussion) if I were to go to an opponent's message board.

e, are you referencing someone or something specific?

I think that the vast majority of the Lakerfans on this site (most are cards fans ) almost go out of their way to not talk crap to suns fans and instead try to discuss specific games or basketball in general. I think it's pretty cool, actually...makes this forum one of the better bball forums out there.

False.

The Suns have an undying hatred for the Spurs, and I think we have all made that abundantly clear.

However we aren't going to direct out Spurs hate to Laker fans, we're going to bring up our Laker hate to Laker fans.

There are probably 50+ pages of posts created in the last calendar month about Spur bashing, and we havent had any direct hostility with that team for nearly a year. Our spur hate is strong and prominent, but dont be surprised if we throw some Laker jabs in there to a partial Laker audience when they seem to spend more time here than their own venues.

p.s. I dont think anyone here actually cheered for an injury anytime recently. And if they blatantly came out cheering for an injury, they were promptly met with criticism by fellow suns fans and others.

Expecting anything more is silly. You cant hope for constant mature public discussion from people around the world who dont and wont ever know each other.

P.S. this is one of the most mature forums you can find for suns talk. The level of discussion is much higher here than the alternatives imo

Which is why you find us Cards/Lakers fans over here all the time.

I have maybe 1K posts on Lakersground, and they've been my team since I could talk. I just can't get on with the standard mentality.

It's not just the Suns forum, it is this entire site...best run and most enjoyable total experience message board on the Web.

It's been stated time and time again though, that this is not specifically a Suns Forum. Read the description of this forum..

"Discuss Amare Stoudemire, Steve Nash or anything else concerning the Suns or the NBA."

That's a quote directly. This forum is for discussion of all NBA. It has been proposed before to have a seperate Sub Forum for non Suns talk, and it's been universally shot down by Suns Fans. This is not "enemy territory" to Laker fans, even though it's an Arizona Sports forum. There is no requirement that you like the Suns to post here. I don't post on the Laker forums anywhere because of the same reason Donald has stated. The only one I'm even registered on is ClubLakers, and I don't have one single post. It's just way too biased and they are way too harsh on fans of other teams. Call me crazy, but I never found it necessary to bash someone because they pull for a different team then I do. Having fans of different teams brings a more open range of discussion, and that's good for everyone.

I still don't get why people bring up that description after all these years. This is a forum for Suns fans to talk about the team and the NBA. That's what it's always been. It's not a place for trolls to come on and completely destroy the fabric of the board, but unfortunately, that's what it's become and when they are called on it, they point to that little description from the front page as a good reason to troll on this board.

It has been pointed out that not every non-Suns fan is a troll, but you've been on the board long enough--when taking a poll of non-Suns fans, a majority are trolls. That's just the way it is. And it's like that everywhere. And then WE are the ones that get blasted for not being as welcoming to those trolls as we should be. That doesn't make sense. It's called the "Arizona Sports Fans Network", not the "United States Sports Fan Network."

I am not a Cards fan, but I can hardly go over there and start ripping them, me being a Dolphins fan. That would be as pathetic as a Heat fan coming over here and ripping the Suns. Oh wait, we've had that too :D

The Lakers magic number before todays game was 5 games. They need any combination of 5 wins or 5 losses by Phoenix before they take the division. This was only 1, so I have to say that this race is still wide open.

The way the West has been this year, I'm still a long way from crowning the Lakers Pacific Division champs.

on behalf of the team, I accept your congrats. :)

Now the real season is set to begin. It is going to be WILD!

congratulations are definitely owed to the lakers after this year. who would have guessed that after an off-season where their best player openly campaigned for a trade they would be sitting atop the pacific division and in 2nd in the west with a week left in the season? i know i wouldn't have. i am no lakers fan, but they deserve some praise for this year. well done.
