Well, with the Lakers winning big all hopes for another division title are gone. Only 2 games left and the Suns are 1.5 games back of the Rockets for the 5th seed, so safe to say they stay at the 6th spot.

With that in mind, do you think the Suns can go out on the road and win it all from the 6th seed? No home court advantage, but no clear cut favorite in the conference either.

I think the Suns are fully capable of winning it all from the 6th seed, it hasn’t happened for some years, but in the West anything can happen. The Suns are extremely talented and I think they can beat anyone, but then again I might be biased. I am not predicting a Suns championship already, but saying they are fully capable of it.

the suns doesn't have homecourt advantage,

They had no chance to catch the Fakers, but had they won out the Suns could have grabbed the #3 seed.

Weren't the Rockets a 6 or 7 when they won their second title?

Anyway, it just depends on which Suns team shows up. This team is getting a little schizo of late.

yes that was the year they traded for drexler....but didn't hakeem get hurt in the reg. season that year? anyway I think that anything can happen in these playoffs. I think you could see any of the 6, 7, or 8 seeds win in the first rounds.

This year, home court and seeds matter little. Shooting percentage and rebounding matter more.

Go Sunz.

It was disappointing to see the Suns lacking energy in such an important game.
I was really surprised when looking at the boxscore. Houston had just 4 more rebounds. It certainly didn't feel like that. The Suns never seemed to be able to go on a run or stop Houston at all.
After watching T-Mac going around the right side of a high pick for the 8th straight posession I expected Phoenix to figure something out - but we couldn't.
It's disappointing to see the TO stats after every game. Not only commit the Suns lots of them. No, they also have a hard time to force any. Did we score a single fast-break point?

To me this loss felt like a season-ending one.

The way it looks we have to beat the Spurs and Lakers just to make it to the conference final - without home court advantage.

It's just like the easy route of Mount Caradras crumbling down, forcing Frodo and co to enter the dangerous route - the Mines of Moria.

I certainly wouldn't bet my money on Phoenix to win it all. But can Steve and co do it?

I say yes. I probably don't believe it myself, but this conference is so tight that anything can happen.

BRING ON THE ORCS!!!

Anyone in the West can win it this year, except for maybe Houston. The seedings are not very important this year - it is all about playing without injuries, and hitting your shots. Just about any team can lose and/or win. Since the Lakers seem to be without Bynum, the West is a crap shoot.

I don't think the nuggets or warriors could win the west because they are horrible defensive teams. houston is as good or a better team compared to those two. houston may or may not lose in the first round....but they are holding their own among the elite.

what the rockets did in the playoffs that year was nothing short of amazing. that year was the year jordan came back late in the season. the rockets made a trade for drexler that was deemed crazy by many fans and their own players...they had a record of 47-35. I think when drexler came over hakeem missed some games which didn't help things. but the rockets went through the jazz(60 wins), the suns(59) wins, and the spurs(62) wins. all of those series were dramatic....and many felt that all of those teams were more than capable of winning a title. but somehow houston pulled it out. hakeem was great for that team.

It kinda stings that we've officially lost the Pacific today. :(

But I'll get over it if we win the Finals!

very true....but one thing that's good about the playoffs is that it's a new season. and if the suns beat the lakers....which is very possible......they can tell them to take that banner with them for a bathroom break.

something to note with the mavs......the one year they Finally won their division.....last season......they lost in the 1st round.

In the west this season I really don't think what seed you are matters if you are 1-6... There are so many great teams that are pretty even. If you ask me, there really is no one or two favorites. For example, in the east, Boston, Detroit, and Cleveland are pretty much the favorites to come out of the east... anyone else would be considered a suprise or an upset. In the west, the Lakers, Spurs, Suns, Hornets, or Jazz could make the finals and it really wouldn't suprise anyone because they are all legitimate contending teams.

I'd say we have just as good of a chance as any but our defense has to continue to improve and we have to peak at playoff time in order to pull it off.

I honestly believe that any team 1-8 from the Western Conference can win it. This year has been sick in terms of balanced talent.

The way we’ve been playing? Not a chance.

Maybe we’ll flip a switch and suddenly be a much better team in the playoffs than we have been in the regular season... but I wouldn’t count on it.

With the teams so evenly talented in the West, I see health and rest to play a larger role than HCA.

Best case the suns are going to be the team higher seeds won't want to play. I just don't think this team has the consistency in its complimentary players to win 4 series on the road.

The suns dont need homecourt to win it all, but they better play inspired a chance. The suns will probably have to beat 3 very good teams just to make the finals. My concern is that that may take alot of games IF they play well enough to win. The EC champs will be idling mostly resting up for the finals. Home court isnt the problem, the western conference gauntlet is.

It won't be that easy to get out of the East either. Boston and Detroit will have to go all out to beat each other in the Eastern finals (assuming that happens), and Orlando, Cleveland, or Washington could give those teams problems too if they meet up.

Personally, I'm STOKED to see the current seeding. My prediction:

Quarterfinals
1. Hornets
8. Denver
4. Jazz
5. Rockets
3. Spurs
6. Suns
2. Lakers
7. Dallas

Semifinals
1. Hornets
4. Jazz
6. Suns
2. Lakers

Conference Finals
1. Hornets
6. Suns

NBA Finals
Celtics
Suns

Beating the hated Spurs, then the rival Lakers, then the X factor Hornets, then the best NBA finals game ever. To go all the way through this year will be orgasmic.
