Playoff fever!!!!

I can't wait for the playoffs...even the years when the Suns aren't in it...having the double-headers during the week on TNT, all good teams, good stories, etc.

But THIS YEAR...the Suns will be one of the favorites to win it all...and I can hardly wait for it to come.

I'm going to spend some money if I can this time and go see some playoffs games...

I know I don't post much on here, but I've been living and dying with this team just like you guys have. I love the fact that when we could be coasting a bit, we OBLITERATE the Lakers by 26 points and eliminate them....such sweet justice!

Anyways, I can't wait until the season ends and the real season begins...

I think this is like that 10th time i've posted on this board and gotten no reply....

Either no one cares about the playoffs...or I just suck at creating topics...

I will break out the infamous Suns chair when we hit the second round. :D

OT- I am enthusiastic, but am experiencing bad side affects to some medicine I got at the Dr.'s office yesterday. Dizziness, fever, hot and cold flashes. Basically all the symptoms of a Laker fan this year! :hulk:

Well we've kind of gone over this topic before :) Not much to say. Are we happy that we're in first place and we look like we might go far in the playoffs? Of course we are! You can only say you're happy so many times though...

Now if you mentioned a match up problem/advantage we might have against certain players or teams, or if we're depending on our outside game too much or if Amare should get more touches, rebounds, if a certain player should be played more,..etc..etc... stuff like that..you'll probably get more responses...

I'm happy, but there is still a huge wait and see feeling that everyone has. This team has won so many games playing unconventionally, when convention says you win championships playing defense and having a legit center.

The only team that has done it w/out a legit center in a long-time has been the Bulls. But they had MJ.

Other factors are that the Suns have been shown to lose games against teams that play physical and borderline dirty, and Denver/Memphis/Seattle and San Antonio all play this way. Houston has started to play this way also.

The last factor is that this team came out of nowhere and although we have budding stars, we don't have a conventional superstar. Amare is on his way and Nash is making a case for MVP, but the Suns are changing the way things have been done in the past.

I have optimism, but it is guarded. I have confidence in the Suns, but not the same feeling of invinciblity I had w/ the 92-93 team. I really hope this style works in the playoffs and the Suns make a serious push for the playoffs. I already have a feeling the Suns will have more nationally televised games next year than any other team.

I actually have more confidence in Suns in playoffs than before.

When Amare was out, we played a few teams that were trying to secure/catch up playoff spot (Denver and Philly). I thought we played really well to beat Nuggets since we are the only team they've lost recently!! Even some Spurs fans say they don't want to face Nugz in the first round. I say, BRING THEM ON!

I am tired of discussing who is our favorite matchup. If we are the #1 team, we can beat anybody. Who cares which team we play first, right? :D

Just to make you feel better:

We've beaten Nuggets 3 times and two of them are during their HOT WINNING streaks. :)

Rocket was physical but didn't we win the game at their home court? Ok, so we didn't have a great offense game but nor did they! Bring it on I say!

We can play physical. Why can't we? We are athletic enough to do almost anything.

We just beat Lakers and we are close to getting 63W. I think we are in a very good shape. :)

I hate posting topics on message boards and getting no replies:)
I'll chime in with some long sappy prose to help out. It's a fine question to me.

I was lurking on this and another Suns board since the Marbury trade. After the initial anger of fans by the trade, there was a steady rise in excitement.
Due to the talent that we suddenly noticed we had when Marbury wasn't dominating the ball ;).
I was certainly more excited than most, because I'm really just a Razorback fan and only have one favorite pro team, the Suns. And that's just because my brother and I are Army brats who were born in San Antonio and Yuma, respectively. I followed the Suns because my older brother grew up a Spurs fan. But aside from the Suns I just followed teams with Razorback players. I was the lone Cowboy fan that defected due to the treatment of one hell of a great man and coach. I didn't return just because they were winning, even if they were all a bunch of Arkies like me.

When Oliver Miller Joined my favorite pro team with my favorite player (Barkley) that was it for me. The Suns since then have been the only pro sports team I followed regardless of the roster. And then we trade two people I really didn't care for Joe Johnson. Oh man.

I remember how far my Razorbacks were falling before he became a Hog. And I remember the whole state waiting for him to arrive mid-year due to academics. We had such a bad record that we upset everyone in the SEC tourney for Nolan Richardson's 1st SEC Championship-which was huge for us here. I may be the only Sun's fan that was downright blissful when Marbs left. :)

When JJ showed what he could do with the ball in is hand and a whole bunch of minutes...he had scoring streaks that were only bested by McGrady and AI at one point (I think it was those two), a mpg streak that ranked up there with all but a handful of HOF'ers...I was pumped from then till now.

And I was glad we didn't sign Kobe or McGrady. I get a lot of Mav's games here and loved Nash's game as it had developed. I was glad we signed him and, like everyone else I was thinking first round and hope after that. But this team was something different from Day One. The buzz was already pretty intense from showing off this new look in the pre-season.

But now we aren't just being mentioned as the suprising team with the best record in the NBA. There is growing sentiment that we are a team that may change how the game is played. If we get to the Finals, the ratings and the media hype will be even greater than in '93. We have a unique team at the right time. I just can't imagine the adulation such a feat will bring to each and every player we have. Due to our image of a team with 5 stars, they will all be household names. People will wonder how anyone else will ever be able to assemble a team with so many stars.

So as to if I'm ready? Not one bit. :D

The ONLY reason I can conceive for wanting to be back in Phoenix was so that I would be surrounded by the hype machine. With the Lakers and Clippers pretty much DOA, this town is pretty empty when it comes to basketball.

short memories - the Jordan versus Barkley Finals were amongst the highest rated of all time and without a doubt the most Hyped since Bird v. Magic. No way this Finals - if we get into it - comes close to the media hype surrounding the Best Player of All time going for #3, against his best friend in the game and the MVP of the League and the talk of the entire year after the show he put on in the Olympics... BUT - it would be the most exciting Finals since 1993 - without a doubt. Suns v. Heat or Suns v. Pistons would probably start with modest numbers, but SPIKE hugely as the series started.

The real question for those of us that have been suns fans for a long time, is how much trash will we talk with every one of our friends that ripped us for likeing the suns all these years!!

And that hopefully the "wait till next season!" Boasts we some times make, will come true.

I find it hard to believe too many people have ripped you just for liking the Suns. They've had good teams over the years and the only knock on them could be that they've never won it all. C'mon - It's not like you're Clippers' fans.

Ironically - much of the talk on local radio is about the lack of excitement toward this team. Outside of some of the diehards, most of you included, the hype machine just hasn't picked up much steam yet. It was crazy in 92-93 with fans painting themselves, their cars, their garage doors, etc with Suns' colors and messages. It's nothing like that this time around...

P.S. Go Lakers !! - - next season. :D

After a season of everyone saying, "but they won't win in the playoffs", I think people are still in a wait and see mode. Get into the second round and the excitement will increase a lot. Get to the conference final and this town will go wild.
