Saw a tweet, and I won’t post because it has bad language in it. But I will paraphrase it@Ronin I guess the free agents list will increase soon, with some good players
I expect several one year deals
But there aren't stars free agentsWhy will there be a lot of 1 year deals. I see bigger signing bonuses with low first and second year base salary if there is a star free agent you really want.
Okay . Example. Team likes player A. Let’s use Golladay. paying him 15 mil for one year makes no sense. You could sign him for 4 years 60 mil. 32 mil signing bonus. First year base salary of 1m plus 8 mil of the bonus. That would leave 51m balance due over the following 3 years. 18m for year 2,3 and 4.But there aren't stars free agents
U can't, cause in a couple of years u have to pay Murray almost 40mil a yearOkay . Example. Team likes player A. Let’s use Golladay. paying him 15 mil for one year makes no sense. Don’t use my numbers or player. this is really more of a question than a statement. But wouldn’t this allow teams to maximize this years suppressed cap space to get a quality player?
Forget the names. The Saints are in cap hell because they kick the van down the road. If ever there was a year to kick the can down the road it seems this would be the year to do it.U can't, cause in a couple of years u have to pay Murray almost 40mil a year
Then u would have Murray /Hopkins/Galloway with the 35% of the cap salary hit
But having contracts with low salary hit this year and heavier in the following years isn't the solution, it's like a dog chasing its own tail, we must be wise with long term deals when our franchise qb will get rather sooner then later a heavy contractForget the names. I get that but let’s go with the “ all in” notion. The cap should/ could go up to as much as 205m next year. Not arguing with your view. Kicking the can down the road is the only way a team going “all in” can truly indeed go all in.But having a low salary hit this year and heavier n the following years isn't the solution, it's like a dog chasing its own tail, we must be wise with long term deals when our franchise qb will get rather sooner then later a heavy contract
Is it accurate?xc_hide_links_from_guests_guests_error_hide_media
That tweet has everybody over the cap.Is it accurate?
Just saw urban tweet, saying Cardinals actually having 14,5 mil of cap space
Why will there be a lot of 1 year deals. I see bigger signing bonuses with low first and second year base salary if there is a star free agent you really want.

7.5 alfordYes, it's accurate, and we can clear another 10-15 million pretty easily by cutting kenard and Alford and giving Chandler a new contract.
