@Ronin I guess the free agents list will increase soon, with some good players
I expect several one year deals
Saw a tweet, and I won’t post because it has bad language in it. But I will paraphrase it
“Really awful year to be a free agent”

Why will there be a lot of 1 year deals. I see bigger signing bonuses with low first and second year base salary if there is a star free agent you really want.

But there aren't stars free agents
Okay . Example. Team likes player A. Let’s use Golladay. paying him 15 mil for one year makes no sense. You could sign him for 4 years 60 mil. 32 mil signing bonus. First year base salary of 1m plus 8 mil of the bonus. That would leave 51m balance due over the following 3 years. 18m for year 2,3 and 4.
Don’t use my numbers or player. this is really more of a question than a statement. But wouldn’t this allow teams to maximize this years suppressed cap space to get a quality player?

U can't, cause in a couple of years u have to pay Murray almost 40mil a year
Then u would have Murray /Hopkins/Galloway with the 35% of the cap salary hit

Forget the names. The Saints are in cap hell because they kick the van down the road. If ever there was a year to kick the can down the road it seems this would be the year to do it.

But having contracts with low salary hit this year and heavier in the following years isn't the solution, it's like a dog chasing its own tail, we must be wise with long term deals when our franchise qb will get rather sooner then later a heavy contract

I get that but let’s go with the “ all in” notion. The cap should/ could go up to as much as 205m next year. Not arguing with your view. Kicking the can down the road is the only way a team going “all in” can truly indeed go all in.

I think the 1 year deals will come from the star/really good players, who are cut for cap reasons and unexpectedly FA's...there will be several. The big stars who have had FA upcoming anyway, will mostly be fine.

Actually it does make sense if you know the cap amount is going to soar in the next year - and they probably do know that because the new tv deals are being negotiated now, and there are going to be a lot more fans in attendance generating revenue.

That tweet has everybody over the cap.
Well almost everybody

Yes, it's accurate, and we can clear another 10-15 million pretty easily by cutting kenard and Alford and giving Chandler a new contract.

Good/mediocre teams that have some cap room are: Indy, Baltimore, San Fran, Seattle, Cleveland, Miami, Carolina, Tennessee, Raiders and the Cards.

New Orleans and the Rams are way over. KC is pretty far over. Green Bay and Tampa are over, Dallas, Pittsburgh, Vikings and the Bills are slightly above or below the cap.

The teams with big cap room are the sucky teams like New England, the Jets, and Jacksonville.

I think it's going to very interesting to see how many players take big money to go to bad teams.

you can also look to either extending or redoing both C. Jones and D.J. Humphries contracts.

Possible cap recapture for Jones is 9.32 m
Possible cap recapture for Humphries is 7.1 or more.
