They got a boost with Antman. Not THIS big of a boost, but still.

Antman was ok. Phase 1 set the bar really so it's probably unrealistic to expect better. Winter Soldier and GotG were pretty damn good films though.

So big of a boost... That they didn't even put Ant-Man in the trailer?

Ant-Man sold the fewest tickets of any Marvel movie since The Incredible Hulk. Don't think that movie gave much of a boost to that machine.

Both the first two phases were a mixed bag. Outside of the original Ironman and the first Avengers movie, none of the rest really stood out IMO for Phase 1. Although the first Avengers movies by itself set the bar pretty damn high. In Phase 2 you had CAWS and GOtG with a pretty good AAoU.

I liked Iron Man 3 too, but really didn't like Iron Man 2. I'm also in the minority that liked the first Captain America. The Thor movies were just ok.

Is Ant-Man going to be in the movie? I'm not sure.

As to the ticket sales for Ant-Man...WOW. That surprises me. Not the best Marvel movie, but very strong, IMO. Certainly not THAT low.

You didn't like Iron Man 2? That surprises me. It was an excellent character piece, and it seemed like the more intellectual movie goers liked it a whole lot more than other people. I loved it, and think the criticisms of it is because people were expecting non-stop action and explosions.

I did like the 1st Cap movie, though it wasn't great. I loved the 1st Thor, and liked the 2nd.

I liked Iron Man 3 but Iron Man 2 was not a good movie. It's one of my least favorite in the MU to date. The first Captain America was pretty good but not great. All the THOR standalone movies have been mediocre to date.

That's sort of what I mean. All the Phases so far have been a mixed bag with a couple great movies in each phase and some good to mediocre ones mixed in. None of the Phases has hit every movie out of the park so to speak.

Overall Marvel has done a great job though. Considering how large the MU is and complexity of keeping everything connected? It's hard to complain. Disney/Marvel has put together a pretty damn cool universe.

If you look at Phase 3 it's insane how large it is. It's going to be very difficult to "nail" Phase 3. I am actually kind of surprised they didn't split some of those movies off into a new phase.

Captain America: Civil War
Doctor Strange
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
Spider-Man
Thor: Ragnarok
Black Panther
Avengers: Infinity War Part I
Ant-Man and the Wasp
Captain Marvel
Avengers: Infinity War Part II
Inhumans

Iron Man 3 was my least favorite. At least IM2 introduced Fury and Black Widow. Thor could've been epic but I've seen better special effects from movies in the 90's. Pretty sure after Civil War I will be sick of Tony and Cap lol.

That might just be the reason they are jamming 11 movies (2 more are rumored) into Phase 3. They could have easily split these out into a 4th phase but I think the studio is getting nervous about people getting burned out on these movies (including other studio releases)....hence the jam packed Phase 3.

Yeah, Ant-Man's gonna be in the movie. Did you not see the stinger at the end of Ant-Man? That set up his role in it from the start.

Kinda strange to call a movie that made over $500 million at the world wide box office a failure. For whatever reason, it did really well in China and was Marvel's second biggest opening there behind AoU.

James Gunn, director of Guardians of the Galaxy, said this on facebook:

"As I've said before this was one of my favorite Marvel movies (and, no, it's not something I say about all Marvel films). And I saw it before the visual effects were in. And, yes, Tom Holland is far and away the best Spidey ever."

Sounds promising.
