I guess several have noticed I now believe the Cards won’t take Jackson. Part of this is as I’ve learned more about the Cards’ coaching staff I now believe they will focus on defense first. In that respect they will try to lock down the game. They will run often draining the clock and hoping to keep the game close. This also keeps the defense fresh. So despite the team having more holes on offense I expect a balanced draft with the CB slot being the first hole filled.

The only way that works is if you have a QB and supporting cast who can be 100% reliable at crunch time. Otherwise, the defense plays its heart out each game, and we fail to convert the winning points and lose a bunch of 3-pt games.

I wouldn't be surprised if that is the case. As good as the defense was, it has a ton of holes.

The offense does too...... but that is beside the point.

Cornerback unless Tremaine Edmunds or Roquan Smith falls into their laps.

Da'Ron Payne is also a possibility. An effective four man pass rush tightens up that pass coverage.

98.7 local radio has been running with the "i dont think it would be shocking if the Cardinals didnt take a QB high" and .... "the cost of moving up to get a top 4 is prohibitive" and .... "Bradford, when healthy, has been very effective....." not just Gambo either, all the shows have run with this narrative

all this sounds to me like the Cards prepping their fans for no QB taken unless one drops in their laps

For months I was sure the Cards would take a QB. Lately it seems that CB is our biggest need and a BPA type guy should be available at 15. Since I’m quasi ok with that now look for them to go after a QB.

totally agree. I see the Cardinals trading back a few spots if they can find a partner and drafting Mike Hughes out of UCF.

It's very possible that they address CB in the 1st. Especially if they really like Kirk, but he might not last either .I'd be surprised if they go Hughes @15. If Ward is gone, Josh Jackson is getting most of the attention as the next best prospect there. The trade down is looking like the way to go.

I'm also still far from comfortable about the OL as well.

My concern on CBs Hughes, and Alexander is that they are both just 5'10". They will be outreached by the bigger WRs in the NFL.

I'd like them to package one of the 3s and the Denver 6th to move up to the 1st pick in round 2 for Lauletta.

Yep, my thoughts as well. I remember a few media members floating the idea of drafting Deone in the first round and I got the eerie feeling they were prepping us for that, when most mocks had him as a 2nd rounder. Same feeling this year with QB. Cards like to leak through the media to get fans' expectations in line so we can talk ourselves into what pick they make.

Thanks for all info Harry.

I am totally fine with this approach. Go get Lauletta in round 2.

That’s cause it’s true - we are blessed not cursed with Sammy - Glennon - but I like me some Jackson - if Jackson can earn the starting QB position - he would have damn well earned it.

This is what I feel the Cards will do now & I'm okay with it as well. We can get a stud on D in the first & a very good QB project in the 2nd. I was thinking they would trade up but with the Bills & the Pats acquiring ammo I don't think they have enough to compete.

Yeah, I would love to move up and get someone like Rosen, but the cost to do so is way too high unless he begins to fall.

Draft your #2 corner (which had been a gaping hole for years), and keep building the structure of what they think can keep us competitive, while also filling holes.

Take a shot on a QB after round 1, and see what happens. We have no choice but to keep drafting QBs and seeing if they stick. If the goal is to build around the running game and defense, all the better. Attempt to develop a QB, so if he needs to get on the field he isnt being forced to carry the entire team.

I worry about Golden moving to de so I can see us drafting a pass rusher. I’m concerned that humphries is going to be/stay healthy so I can see McGlinchey. I can also see us taking a cb. I really think we will take a wr in the second round. Sutton intrigued me with his size and speed.

I am hearing a lot about them simply enthrall with Jaire Alexander, the cornerback out of Louisville. The way this front office is straight forward when others set smoke screens, theirs is being truthful because nobody else does... I think the guy is a legit selection in the first
