In hindsight you pick Drew Brees in 2001, who lasted until the 2nd round, but of course nobody knew then how good Brees was going to be.

2001 was actually a good year for Jake as a Card, 18 TDs and 14 picks the problem was we'd spent so much draft capital to improve the offense around him that was just nowhere near good enough. If you look at the drafts we picked Shelton, Clement and Leonard Davis on the OL, Thomas Jones at RB, David Boston at WR. With that much high drafting on one side of the ball you expected more.

Wehrli was one of, and maybe the most underrated Cardinals in their history. Yes, he was a HOF'er, but I'm not sure he was ever considered the best player on the team in any of his seasons. He was steady as a rock. Not flashy, not cocky, but massively respected by his peers.
