He has been playing deep safety almost exclusively all season. That would be why.

They should have Gould can't make the FG too far for him so they might as well have gone for it. They need 3 scores so go for it

What injury does he have?

He hurt his neck earlier then reinjured it. A couple of weeks ago he hurt a toe pretty badly. That doesn’t sound bad but it’s worse than it seems. He’s also had shoulder injuries. He’s one tough guy who plays hurt. It’s just hard to be fully effective. That said I’ve never liked him in coverage but he’s otherwise very sound.

It was the 13 yard part of it that just made it highly unlikely. Maybe with a punt you pin the other team close to the goaline or maybe even get a muffed punt or something.
