My point about the refs is simple. It looks like they memorized the rule book and are interpreting it literally. If you read the rule on illegal touching it doesn’t say you can’t call it on a run play. Calling it the way they did makes no sense. The receiver by then becomes a potential blocker. Of course you can touch them. However, technically the rule says you can’t.

Not sure what was so horrible, they bled the clock intentionally and scored a TD. What’s your issue with it?

We were very lucky with how it worked out. The runs and zero urgency but still burning timeouts along the way. The PI call was the thing that saved us otherwise we might have been kicking a FG there with only 1 TO left.

Frustrating that refs. fail to understand there are penalties, but that many actions do not violate the spirit of the rule.
