I'm not at all down on him. I hope we keep him and give him a shot, but we canNOT pencil him in as a starter heading into the season and expect to be a SB or playoff contender. No way. I'm sick and tired of ignoring the position and just 'getting by'. Maybe he'll end up starter material, but for now, let's strengthen the position.
Agree. Though I think the same thing could still be made about our OL and possibly TE.

Actually, I'd like every starting position be up for grabs between now and the start of next season. You get the feeling that, each year on many teams, a couple of "surprise" guys muscle their way into starting roles and make differences in their team's destinies.

I think the offseason plan should start with re-signing Campbell and Jones, and everything else should flow from that. Swearinger has looked good. Jermaine Gresham has looked good. Sio Moore has looked good. But, if we are going to compete for a Super Bowl, we need that from 7 to be dominant.

If they could get Palmer, Peterson and Iupati to restructure their contracts it would probably free up quite a bit of cash. Of course it's the pay now or pay later syndrome. Depends on how they look at their SB window.
