I would read that as the Cardinals will need to see what is going to be left in the Rookie pool.

Not much room for negotiation the way the new system is set up.

4 years vs 5....and how much is guaranteed..... Newton just got 4 years, 22 mil....100% guaranteed

.
My guess is that Peterson wants a shorter contract........He did not look happy to be drafted here. The team of course will want five years, since anything after 4 is unrestricted now.............they should yank his chain and offer him three years instead...short contract, but still a restricted year.

Everything is 4 year deals now. 1st rounders have a team option that needs to be exercised by the 3rd year of the deal.

There have been rumors of this for a while now. It would be just our luck to trade DRC counting on PP7 to replace him and instead of Aeneas Williams we find out we've drafted Thomas Jones. :bang:

My guess near 22 mil. He will sign sooner than later. He looked fine about joining the team.

He is from Florida so maybe he knew DRC who knows.

It is what it is he's stuck with the new CBA and I seriously doubt he's going to lose money to holdout if he does his agent is not doing his job.

There is no negotiation. The contracts are slotted. A.J. Green got 19.6 million over 4 years. Peterson will get slightly less than that. He will get 18.5-19.

I have not heard any rumors, just going off of what I saw on draft day....the four guys in front of him, and all of them behind him....got that phone call before their name was called and all of them got excited, started hugging their momma's and all that....Peterson got the call, and got all stern and straight faced. I live in Baton Rouge, and this guy showed way more excitement and personality than that when he was a Tiger.

I heard he wore red because he thought he'd be a Buccaneer. We should trade him.

I hear Nate Davis is being dangled.

And for the record, I don't think that Peterson holds out, and I REALLY don't think that players care who drafts them. They're professionals, and they're mercenaries. They care who pays them.

On the contrary there was an interview with Thomas Jones where he talked about the top draft picks wagering on who would be the poor guy that had to go to Arizona.

These guys are amateurs not professionals, well some of them are already professionals. They're still kids fresh out of college and I do think where they play matters to them. I think it takes a year or two before they become jaded professionals with loyalty only to Mammon.

The Cardinals haven't spoken to the agent for unsigned rookie Patrick Peterson since Wednesday.

Peterson's player rep may be trying to leverage Arizona based on the fact that he was supposedly "the best player in the draft." A previous report from an admittedly unreliable website (will remain unnamed here) had quotes from Peterson's agent suggesting a holdout was possible. The Cards need Peterson in training camp because he'll be their No. 1 corner this season.

Wilson needs to start dogging some opposing Receivers.
