You have to decide, do you want to draft a guy that has a higher likelyhood of being "good" (he is a student of the game, good man to man in college), but less of being a "homerun" (smaller, slower) than the other picks? Or do you want to gamble on the guys with the tools (DCR, Jenkins, Talib) who, if they play to their potential, could be great?

Cason, IMO, will be good, and we could use a good CB.

Have you ever seen a UofA game??

He was arguably the fastest player on the field during a game!

He returned punts!

On top of that.. He ran a 4.4 in the combine!! How the hell is that slow??

Only McKelvin and Cromartie ran 4.3s, and its looking like they're gonna be gone by the time that we pick..

Speed??

Get that outta here, dude

Cason will be better than Cromartie and will be ready to step on the field a lot sooner.

Its not all about measurables, its what the guy does on the field. I'd take what Cason did against PAC 10 WRs and QBs than what Cromartie faced at Tenn State.

The top 9 CB's according nflcountdown.com are:
Mckelvin
DRC
Jenkins
Talib
Lee
Cason
Porter
King
Godfrey

Of those 9 CB's Cason had the slowest 40 time. I like Cason and I wouldn't mind if he ended up a Cardinal, but to try to claim that his speed is not an issue is equal to burying your head in the sand. I think he has other attributes that make up for his speed (ie. quickness, instincts), but speed is the reason that he is not one of the top 3 CB's in this draft.

That's an awful highlight film. If anything it makes me not even remotely consider him at #16.

Highlight films are all most of the sheep watch. That's why their opinions matter not. UA fans here, who have seen a lot of Cason, say he can play. That carries more weight with me.

speed is the reason that he is not one of the top 3 CB's in this draft.

He was the #1 CB in last years draft until he opted not to enter..

The number 2 ranked CB? Darrell Reevis, who had a very good rookie year for the Jets. Speed wasn't the issue last year.. Isn't an issue this year.

People have their heads so far up their butts over 40 times, its ridiculous.

Cason has all the intangibles to be a great CB and he played in a major conference, yet he is rated lower than 3 small conference players. Speed is obviously an issue. If speed isn't the issue this year then why is he, at best, only the 4th rated CB (most draft sites have him rated much lower but I'm giving the benefit of the doubt).

Speed was an issue for Boldin too...40 times are way overrated. Game Speed/Production is what matters.

I agree. I am a Cason fan. I am just responding to the comment that his speed isn't having an effect on his draft status, it clearly is. I am glad his speed is causing him to slip, because if he was timed at 4.38 then he wouldn't be available at #16.

Same here, Cason has always impressed me. The guy can flat out play. I centrainly hope he drops to us in the 2nd.

Lol

And im defending Cason because somebody said that his speed (or lack of) was the reason he wasn't worthy of a Top 20 pick.. When clearly, i believe he is.
