The Arizona Cardinals plan to try to trade former All-Pro wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins this offseason, sources tell Jordan Schultz, theScore's NFL insider.

Hopkins, 30, has two years and $34.36M left on his contract and is likely to seek a new deal, according to Schultz.

Owner Michael Bidwill plans to express this plan to GM candidates.

Surely that would be down to a new GM?

Oh. We’ll it’s good Michael isn’t getting involved in football matters.

Trading Hop and keeping Hollywood makes no sense from a short- or long-term football standpoint.

Maybe trade them both and just plan to bring folk in in 2024.

Yeah I don't believe it even a little bit. He said just yesterday he leaves personnel decisions to the GM and he's not starting GM interviews with "Oh and we're going to trade Hop".

Idk. You only do this if you know Kyler isnt playing until December. As others have expressed seems easier to move Brown.
Wouldn’t make that assumption. If they can get a late round pick it works for Payton compensation

Hop has no guaranteed money. That makes it easier to trade him. New team can give him a new deal with guarantees and everybody is happy.

Except he has old bonuses that get accelerated when traded.

Hollywood has a guaranteed one year but no bonus.

Could you trade him for Payton instead of a first round pick. Maybe trade him for another player? Don't get me wrong I'm not looking to trade him just curious.

Don't buy these rumors. Cards would take a $22 million cap hit if they traded him.

They'll account for the $22m in a post-June 1st split and gain about $19m in Cap relief in 2023 - $8m available before June, and the balance can be used to cover the $7m+ draft class, etc.

Additionally, trading Dhop will garner another top-100 pick. We have 5 in the top 105 at this point.

Don't we have a massive cap hit if we trade him?
We do. If they are doing this without hiring a GM, it makes it seem like they have already hired one, or two for that matter...smh

Heres how to do it. Offer NO a conditional 2024 first for Payton. The condition is they accept the first round pick the Cards choose. They trade Hopkins after June 1 for a low round 1. The net cap hit is $3mil in 2023 and $11 mil in 2024.

the 22 mil hit makes him untradable ( from Cardinals standpoint). However I AM all in on trading away whats left of this team

Trade Jalen or Budda
Trade Brown
Trade Hump
Extend Murphy
Extend Allen

No. It does not. It actually frees up to $19m under the Cap in 2023.
