I've been hoping the Cardinals would take a run at a younger running back with some speed and since Kevin Jones was the only guy out there who fit that profile, I'd been holding he'd head to Arizona. They never showed any interest though and he signed a one year contract with the Bears for the league minimum ($605K) today. That considerably cheaper than either Shipp or Arrington and I'd have much rather seen him touting the rock behind Edge than either of those two. Oh well, it wasn't meant to be.

Was I the only one who thought he would be a better option, especially considering he's cheaper than them?

good signing for the Bears. Kinda indifferent about the Cards not getting him.

I dunno.

There is something about Shipp we are all missing.

Maybe 3 or 4 years ago I could see sticking with him but now he is nothing but an outragiously over paid ST player.

But since I like Shipp I could care less if he stays with the team.

I've been off the Shipp bandwagon for a while now. It's crazy to think they paid him $1.75 million last year for 41 yards and he hasn't averaged better than three yards a carry since 2003. I'd rather have several free agent backs over him right now. It's time to cut bait with him.

Shipp and Hayes are from Patterson, NJ. That is down the street from my home town. I sold a dog kennel to his old highschool coach.

I assume that as long as Shipp keeps the location of the negatives he has of "Bill Sr. and the chicken" secret, he'll never be cut.

I should buy a Shipp jersey. He'd be gone the next day.

I thought he was a perfect low risk high reward type guy. I would of loved to see him signed.

The risk is his health. I think he's a high-risk/high-reward guy.

If we cut Shipp or JJ to make room for him and he ends up on IR in week 3, we're suddenly worse off than we were.

Kevin Jones can play for the bears when Shawn Alexander is still a free agent.

Do you really think that neither of those players would be available on the free agent wire (or a player of similar caliber on someone's practice squad) by Week 3 of the regular season?

At the minimum salary (almost a third of what the Cards are going to pay Shipp), I'm not sure how the risk could have been much lower.

That being said, it's hard to say that the Cards "missed out" on a guy they never wanted to begin with.
