Sorry if there is already a thread about this. I though it'd be interesting to see what everyone thought. On ESPN they had each states Mt. Rushmore of athletes/coaches. Who do you think would compromise the Cards Mt. Rushmore. I'm basing mine from the modern era because i never saw the likes of Charley Trippi,et all, play.

Larry Wilson-probably the best player ever for the Cards
Aeneas Williams-hard to argue with his accomplishments
Dan Dierdorf-probably the Cards best OL ever
Ken Whisenhunt-any coach who takes the Cards to the SB deserves instant immortality.

other guys i considered: Jim Bakken, Jim Hart, Ottis Anderson, Roy Green, Roger Wehrli, Eric Swann, Pat Tillman,Eric Hill, Fitz, and Boldin. I'm sure there are many i'm forgetting.

Mel Gray and Terry Metcalf have to at least be in the conversation.

But - I can't argue too much with your list.

GREAT list....

Maybe NOT one of the All-Time BEST but a fav. of mine was Pat Tilly. Lomax once said he was like 7-11 because he was ALWAYS open. ;)He was only 5'10" but had sure hands and made diving catches regularly. I get so annoyed when a WR won't extend and misses a perfectly catchable ball by mere inches!!

I would like to say Neil Lomax should at least be on the list as well.

I would put Warner, Boldin, Fitzgerald and Breaston on...just for the irony of putting them on something called Mount Rush More. :?

I like the Arizona drafted only list of Centers, Fitz, and Aeneas...

but I would replace Anquan with Plummer or Tillman.

A few more years and DRC might be on the list or Anquan or Adrian Wilson

Mount Rushmore commemorates great Presidents... not distinguished Senators or Congressman.

As such, IMO - only Cardinal Hall of Fame members qualify for the team's mountaintop.

CHARLES W. BIDWILL, SR. (1967) - 1933-1947
Guy Chamberlin (1965) - 1927-1928
JIMMY CONZELMAN (1964) - 1940-1942, 1946-1948
DAN DIERDORF (1996) - 1971-1983
JOHN (PADDY) DRISCOLL (1965) - 1920-1925
Walt Kiesling (1966) - 1929-1933
Earl (Curly) Lambeau (1963) - 1950-1951
DICK (NIGHT TRAIN) LANE (1974) - 1954-1959
OLLIE MATSON (1972) - 1952, 1954-1958
Don Maynard (1987) - 1973
ERNIE NEVERS (1963) - 1929-1931
JACKIE SMITH (1994) - 1963-1977
Jim Thorpe (1963) - 1928
CHARLEY TRIPPI (1968) - 1947-1955
ROGER WEHRLI (2007) - 1969-1982
LARRY WILSON (1978) - 1960-1972

Your point is well taken, but it exposes something that, I think, should be rectified. Chris O'Brien started this team and was its driving force for its first 30 years. He should be the Washington equivalent. For that matter, he should be in the Hall of Fame.

Larry Wilson is an obvious choice.

Paddy Driscoll should clearly be a member. His presence in a game usually meant the difference between winning and losing.

And, like the actual Rushmore that included a distinguished but less monumental Teddy Roosevelt (probably because he was fresh in the memory), I say add in Fitz.
