This is a HUGE moment in the Arizona Cardinals franchise history right now... What we do in this offseason will shape what kind of team we are.. I still believe in Whiz.. I think he needs to read this plan, follow it and together with the Bidwells enjoy a successful season in 2011.. :D

I have been hearing positive things from the NFL and P.A., I think ultimately they will get a CB done by mid-march, and with that, a draft salary cap will be in place and the franchise tag will be elminated..

A.) Sign Keith Butler to DC. (There is no official DC in waiting in Pitt, and I think we will roll out the red carpet for Butler to join the desert)

B.) F.A. with the addition of butler and the the elmination of the tag, the cardinals will be free to pursue Woodley... It will ultimately come down to AZ or Pitt, and I think the cards pay him good money and he follows his coach to the desert. He is our one impact f.a. signing.

C.) Draft.. Trade 2011 2nd round pick for Kevin Kolb, sign him to a 5 year 48 million deal with 28 guarenteed.

D.) Trade #5 pick to the Houston Texans at #11 and also #42 who are switching to the 3-4 with Wade Philips and Von Miller is the center piece to do it.

E.) Draft Nate Solder at #11, moving Brown back to the right side Solder is a guy who could start from day 1, and cover Kolb's back for years to come.

F.) Draft Rodney Hudson #42. He can play guard or center, and is an absolute STUD.. A little undersized but you could never tell by the way he plays.. Helps solidfy a shaky OLine for years to come.

G.) Resign Breaston for a reasonable amount..

Key additions: LaMar Woodley, Kevin kolb, Nate Solder, Rodney Hudson

We would be adding significant talent at need areas and be ready to roll in 2011... I think every step of this is logical and realistic, the question is do the Cardinals?

Thoughts?

The same Nate Solder who got taken to school at the Senior Bowl?

I don't know.. from what I watched and most things I read was he was the most impressive OLineman at the senior bowl this year and his footwork, balence, combined with his huge frame make him very intriguing..

Is he jake Long or Joe Thomas.... maybe not, but this guy has all the physical tools and smarts to be special..

Who said the Franchise tag was eliminated. Teams can start franchising starting Feb 10th. Franchise tag will be in place before the March 4th CBA deadline and it will be in place afterwards.

Don't take my word for it: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...ony-castonzo-and-nate-solder-not-looking-good

Solder, who stands at 6-foot-8 and 300 pounds, was caught flat-footed by Texas' Sam Acho in the first quarter on a play that led to a sack of Jake Locker, who also fumbled the ball on the play.

But as bad as Solder looked on that one play, Castonzo has been struggling throughout most of the first half. His technique and footwork have opened up some pretty gaping holes in the line of scrimmage, and he recently let Arizona's Brooks Reed blow right past him to sack Ricky Stanzi.

Between the two players, the 6-foot-7 Castonzo came into the game more in need of a good showing, so suffice it to say that this is not good for him. There were already doubts about whether he was a truly elite player, and now there just doesn't seem to be any reason to believe he is even a first round talent.

I agree with kerouac9, no to Solder at the 11th pick. I see the value of this year OT's at the 25 to 40 pick range (specificly Carimi, Smith or Sherrod). Miller or Amukamara could slip to the 11th pick...
Also would rather go with Moffit over Hudson at G/C.

Another couple options are Gabe Carimi and don't be surprised when all is said and done at the draft if Tyron Smith from USC is in the discussion for the 1st OT taken in the 11-15 range...

I think any of those 3 would be an upgrade for the cardinals OLine in 2011..

Yeah I was referring to the week, reading the daily recaps and watching the workouts on NFL network.. didn't pay too much attention to the game.. but I guess it didn't go well..

as was mentioned before is Amakurama fell he should be the no brainer pick, same with von miller, but I don't think either falls, and by the time we get tot he draft the Offensive Tackles will rise and there will be a run on them from 11-20, 3-4 Olineman will be off the board..

In the scernio, the cards get their pick on their opinon of the best ones...

I was listening to ESPN radio last night and John Clayton said there are strong winds that will the new CBA is in place one of the concessions for the 18 game season tghe owner will make is elminating the franchise tag...

So for right now they are keeping it, but from what he was reporting, when the new CBA is signed, that the franchise tag will most likely be gone..

Just passing along what I heard...:)

All right; from the practices:

http://www.draftcountdown.com/features/SeniorBowl/reports/Practices/North-124.php

Colorado OT Nate Solder struggled a bit today. Early on Solder was getting a fair amount of attention from coaches who were trying to correct his technique. Solder also isn’t very powerful and struggled to get low in the running game, which is understandable considering he is 6’8 and change. Throughout the day Solder had trouble handling Ryan Kerrigan and Pierre Allen.

Colorado OT Nate Solder looked very athletic, but he continues to struggle with the fundamentals. In “The Pit” Solder’s arm placement was poor and he never had good leverage. At one point Jeremy Beal blew past him with a speed rush. Cameron Jordan used a power move to knock Solder back and get around him. In the 7-on-7’s Solder struggled at guard, but had some shining moments against Ryan Kerrigan, finally getting good leverage. Overall it was an up and down performance.

Nebraska DE Pierre Allen struggled in “The Pit” today against a few different offensive linemen. Allen had some strength problems and would often get shoved back by the bigger blockers. Allen did have one standout play where he got under Nate Solder’s pads in a 7-on-7 and drove him backwards, but that was about it.

• Oklahoma DE Jeremy Beal had a better day than yesterday, but was still subpar. When Beal speed rushed around tackles (like Nate Solder once in a 7-on-7,) he was effective, but ANY engagement and Beal would be pancaked. Beal may have to move to linebacker in the pros.

For the record.. from ESPN's Scout's Inc :

O-line shines
It was a very good week for the offensive line group, and a lot of players really helped their stock. Colorado OT Nate Solder was the best lineman here this week. He showed a good combination of size, feet and lateral agility, but the thing that stuck out was his toughness. He was playing with a chip on his shoulder and mixing it up. Wisconsin's Gabe Carimi also had a solid week. He is limited in terms of athletic ability but showed great inline power as a run-blocker and solidified himself as a first-round prospect at right tackle.

... but getting an upgrade on the Oline is a must, and though I felt Solder may be the best option if we traded down, (and for the record when all is said and done I still think Solder will be a sold LT in the league), the other 2 would be interesting options to look at as well...

The problem is if we don't get an Olineman in the first couple rounds, there are really only a couple legit F.A. tackles in Free agency (ofcourse assuming there is one), and one is old, the other has only play 5 games since 2008...

So after we had solidfied our QB and found a legit pass rusher, the Oline needs to be the focus.. IMO..

If Stefen Wisniewski is available in the second we should grab him.

Why is everybody hyped on Kolb. I don't get it. I didn't see anything special from him this season to warrent a 2nd round pick. The Ravens only gave up a 4th for Boldin. Kolb nowhere near the player Boldin is.

Here is a very simplistic answer....guys in the race horse business pay an awful lot of money for foals who never ran but have outstanding blood lines....consider the fact that he learned under some terrific teachers in Philly and Reid thought enough of him to annoint him king when he did....
