Ouchie, you and I don't often agree on very much, but after much soul searching and reading of a lot of different posts on this issue, I'm beginning to think you have the right answer.

Hurrah - now if we could just get to you on the whole Bush-Satan connection!:D

Us realists are pretty pleased with this as well. After 4-12, change is likely to be a good thing

hmm, and us "darksiders" have been trying to convince y'all that we're realists for over a year, and only when you koolaiders (and c'mon nidan, you are SUCH a koolaider) happen to agree with us is it realistic . . . hilarious!

uh maybe 'cuz kendall has been overrated for years. i lauded his signing, but never really saw him become the top-notch olineman i expected and NEVER saw his GREATNESS at center. if the rookie can play, by all means, throw him into the fire. what else does this team have to lose? 4 more games? whoopie.

Well, I don't think I ever called Kendall a "great" C but there is nobody on this board who could possibly tell me he wasn;t the best C on the roster before yesterday. There is also basically no argument to be made that he wasn't our 2nd best OL last year at the very least and Bill Lewis (you know him, played C in the NFL for a few years) said Kendall was the best OL last year.

I think this was a major mistake and I think he was singled out for some reason and I don't for a minute buy the injury argument because injuries are a part of life in this league. You don't cut your best player at a position because you wonder if he is going to get hurt or not. I also don't buy the money argument because the Cards were well below the cap and they could have waited to see if Stepanovich could make the transition to this level in camp and cut Kendall later and been no worse off capwise.

This is just plain dumb to me.

Ha,Ha,Ha. Kendall was one of the guys who complained about practice and he got cut. That is kind of funny. I think Green is showing this team who is boss. But Kendall was injury plagued, not very mobile and didn't have much in the tank. Wasn't the Center they drafted from Ohio State ranked really high at the Guard or Center position in the draft. The Cards have a replacement so it is ok.

no prob - was just having some fun back at you. And the next post wasn't necessarily meant towards you - I just happen to run across it a lot - I guess it has to do with us being brothers - but that's even weirder don't you think. MOst brothers always think the others are wrong.

Oh and I hope you don't take the Rondstadt dig too seriously - it was meant in jest - and I've meant to apologize about that whole spat on the Politics board for a while.

No really, I mean it

Darksiders think the world is falling with 4-12 or worse looming
Koolaiders think we are heading for the NFC championship

Most us are just plain happy to see change and just look like optimists when viewed from under a dark cloud :) . If I were an optimist I would believe that we are going to the playoffs, as it is I just hope we are and will be mildly surprised if it comes to pass.

this is a bad move ... definitely shocked when the misses told me it this morning ... these are the type of moves he made near the end in MN

pete kendall is one of your best lineman .. he plays multiple positions on the interior line ... he is experienced and has leadership qualities within the team

it will make life difficult to move him without an adequete replacement ... rookie OL often struggle ..... the C is often the "qb" of the line, setting up his fellow lineman and the like

it's asking a lot for a rookie to step in, handle the leadership role and then play at an NFL level

dump him next year if you want ... but with an aging RB, a young QB and young receivers all learning a new system, it is wise to keep some experience on the OL

hopefully this doesnt' ruin mccown ... very questionable move

oh no no no. According to some cards fans if anyone gives up a sack its the centers fault. Cause ya know he has magical powers to make big tubs of lard pro bowlers in a single bound.

First off,Green is right.OSU players are NFL ready. He drafted a bunch of Buckeyes when he was in Minnesota.Green is just sending a message.Parcells and Jimmy Johnson would always cut somebody to prove a point.Kendall was a good player but he's older and making alot of money and injury prone.I don't think it's a big deal that he's gone. But, i think that there is no doubt that Green is letting him go because of his complaining.Remember Green i trying to instill a new attitude and i'm sure filing grievances over hard work is not what he had in mind.

If he wanted to win primarily, he wouldn't have signed with Arizona as a free agent. I'm willing to bet that he's disappointed that he's going to have to settle for "only" $750,000 this season instead of the $5.5 million he was going to get.

Did you forget that Pete Kendall in his press conference here was that rare athlete who said, "Of course I signed for the most money?"

He will get signed, but he will not get half of the 2.75mil he lost this season. So, I'm sure he's both shocked and disappointed based on his own words.

Section 11,

Good assessment.

I for one was shocked......and also not disappointed (after I thought about it for a bit).

Frank Garcia is still available should Steph take longer to develop.

Who will get over it faster, you or him?
Probably about a tie.

He'll get picked up by someone and will be perfectly happy to play in front of a sell-out crowd for a playoff contender.
Meanwhile, I'll just accept the fact that this rebuilding process won't happen overnight.

Should be sometime around this Friday at 4:00.

Good enough.

I gave up hope of any realistic chance for a winning season when I heard ten players bitched about the workouts. If Green pulls it off, it'll be amazing but he's making moves that make it harder to win short term.

nidan, what did you prophesize last year as our record?

and i think the "mildly surprised" would classify you as an optimist in the eyes of objective outside observers...

also, i expect better than 4-12, so does that mean i'm no longer a darksider?

2003:

In his rookie season with the Browns earned the starting center position at the beginning of training camp and started in nine regular season games before an ankle injury suffered vs. Pittsburgh on Nov. 23, ended his season.

Game 1 vs. Indianapolis 9/7: In his Browns debut started at C as the offensive line did not allow a sack as the offense totaled 280 net yards, allowed QB Holcomb to throw for 182 yards, and paved the way for RB William Green to rush for 86 yards…

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yes, he was a 1st rounder, but it just goes to show that it can be done. Faine would have been 16 game starter if not for injury.

Save the money, increase the athleticisim, and give the kid the entire came to prepare himself. I really like Kendall, but I still like the move.
