Your assessments of players always seem like they are taken out of a book. I watched Morey for the last couple years with the Steelers and he is in no way "swift" or a "sure handed #5 WR." Where are you getting that stuff from?

I don't see this as important for WR at all, barring catastrophic injuries. It seems like purely a special teams signing.

I agree, he has no skill as a WR.

He's never gotten a chance at WR either. However, that's not what I think we are bringing him in here for. He is an upgrade over some of our other special teams players for sure.

Actually, I've seen Sean Morey a great deal...he played both high school and college a half an hour from where I live...I saw him when he played for the Patriots and I was impressed with his speed and his hands...and I have seen him make good catches in pre-season games.

If the Cardinals need another WR to play the slot, I think Morey can contribute, Meanwhile he will be a real boost to our special teams.

Back in my original Cardinal UFA predictions, Sean Morey was one of the players I thought the Cardinals would sign...primarily for his special teams ability.

Sorry if you think I am just winging it.

Have you see Morey play in person?

No, but I watch all the Steelers games and he is very slow by WR standards, he got a small chance to play WR when Ward and Burress went down over the years. Also, he got a bit of PT when Cedrick Wilson was hurt. Nothing he has shown me tells me he can be a good WR.

We don't need him to be a good WR. We need him to be a serviceable WR which he is. Again, it's not like we are bringing this guy in to be an every down receiver. Whiz is big on special teams play. That's why he is here.

We don't even need him to be a serviceable WR, we just need him to get 20 tackles in special teams. Thats it. We would be worth his weight in gold if we could improve our special teams.

We just need him to tackle Devin Hester before he gets to the 50.

Thanks very little, Aaron Francisco, et al.

To Francisco's credit. Hester made quite a few people look silly last year.

Morey is not slow by WR standards...I don't know who you were watching...he's not a 4.3 burner, but he's got good wheels--how do you think he has excelled on special teams?

We are talking about a #5 WR...that was the context...as a #5 WR...

Ken's doing what he said he would and signing people to push the starters and provide depth. Not all of these players necessarily have to do both. Frankly, Morey may not even make the final team.

I would be really disappointed if the Cardinals didn't draft a new wide receiver, even with the Sporting News reporting that Ken plans to have 35-40 runs in each contest. The crop this year for WR is tubular and we need to look into getting one in the 4th or 5th round.

It's OK, 40yearfan! Morey is a very good signing...and the Cardinals have to find a way to free up more money to sign FB Terrell Smith, OLB TBA and OT TBA. The Cardinals have to finish the job this time around, by covering all their bases.

Mitch, I was being facetious.:D

Sean Morey runs in the 4.4s...

The Steelers last year clocked him at 4.4...

He also ran back 8 kickoffs for a 25.3 ave....one for 76 yards.

NFL "gunners" are not slow...

Morey was also the Steelers' special teams captain.

In 2003 when Morey played for the Eagles, Morey was named to Dr. Z's All-Pro team as his special teamer.

To say Morey is "very slow by WR standards"...is just wrong.

I like the signing and the way the Cards are adding depth and competition for the starting positions. In many cases, Denny named his starters in the off season and just went with them.

would be worth his weight in gold if we could improve our special teams.

Well his 200 pounds or 2916 2/3 Troy ounces, at today's closing gold price of $647.45 per ounce, would make him worth $1,888,395.83. Spread over a three-year contract, i'd have to agree that he'd be well worth it if he contributes to a significant improvement in our special teams!

he will make the roster, he was signed for special teams. We have WR's Q,fitz, johnson, walters and the kid that got hurt and is blazing fast, he almost beat johnson out of number 3 before his injury. Cant think of the name right now.

McCoy?

And I think Walters was not re-signed, at least not yet.

I remember last year we had signed a bunch of great ST'ers and I was so excited among ohter things to see out ST dominate. I think we had one of the worst ones. By week 4 I was like 'How the heck did it get worse'?

From day one Green started signing special teams players. Then he brought in Gary Zauner, supposedly a very good ST coach, the special teams just got worse every year. I have never been able to understand why the Cards ST's are so bad year after year.
