Cardinals Sign K Neil Rackers
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Tuesday, November 11, 2003

Tempe, Arizona —- Kicker Neil Rackers, a three-year
member of the Cincinnati Bengals, has signed a one-year
contract with the Cardinals.

The 6-0, 205-pound kicker was released by Cincinnati
September 1 in its final training camp cutdown. During
his tenure as a Bengal, he made 44 field goal tries and
74 points after touchdowns in 48 games.

He enjoyed his best pro season in 2002, making 83
percent (15-18 of his field-goal attempts to rank
seventh in the NFL among kickers with 15 or more
attempts. He also was perfect (13-of-13) on field-goal
tries under 45 yards.

Rackers, who set an Illinois single-season scoring
record of 110 points as a senior in 1999, was
Cincinnati’s sixth-round selection (169th overall) in
the 2000 NFL draft.

Rackers will wear uniform no. 1.

Will this guy be able to get the kick offs into the endzone??? I like Bill but we are getting killed on field possition and anything would help.

Neil Rackers is not a good kicker. He basically sulked around the Bengals training facility all last season complaining about how he was going to be replaced.

Funny that we're picking up Bengals cast-offs now.

supposedly about half of his tryout kicks went into the end zone , which may have given him the edge over Chandler. Made all his field goals or maybe missed one. Rackers and Hodel were pretty efficient when at Illinois doing field goals. They were a duo for at least 2 years maybe 3.

Not really. Neither of them are really any good. Neil Rackers is nothing to get excited about, though.

Billy needs to get better. Kid just doesn't want to play at this point, is what I think. Must be a Grammatica thing this time of year. His older brother doesn't seem to care, either.

I am all for bagging on a non-producing player but implying a kicker is dogging it stretches it a bit.

I mean how much fear of playing could he have? I think his back really hurts or he'd kick.
