We still weren't one of the 10 best teams last year, as the playoffs clearly showed. We're nowhere close to top 10 now. Probably around 15-17, as things stand. I don't see it getting much better. Could get a lot worse.
Remember Stout.. the Somewhere over the Rainbow. That is the theme song for the Brit and Quebec Variety Show.

We were top 10. More accurately we were 10.

That's how the draft order works. Win loss record + SOS. No if's, no but's. We were 10. Which is top 10 last I checked.

Over 17 weeks they were in the neighborhood you're discussing. As the season wore on, they were significantly worse. The Cards were 16th in Weighted DVOA after the Super Bowl, right between Denver and Cleveland.

If your idea of a "great offseason" is to be a lot worse than the team that swooned pathetically to end the season on a down note, well, I've got some oceanfront land in Scottsdale to sell ya.

Oh, right, when fans feel like their team is a bumbling, stumbling mess, they're supposed to break out the pom poms for some "Ra Ra, Sis Boom Ba" routines. Oh well, folks are entitled to be blind Polyannas. Just makes for a crappy board.
Like I said, you're entitled to whine as often as you please. Entirely up to you. IMO, the negativity for a team that has improved each of the last 3 years just drains the soul of this board. That's just me. No one is right or wrong. And if the Cardinals win 4 games this year, I may join your ranks next season. But, I'll stay positive until that actually happens.

You're whining about whining. The rest of your post, while I don't agree with it, is your opinion and perfectly valid. When you say all the negativity is whining but get your back up when blind optimism is pointed out as homerism, though, well, then, that falls apart.

All that is true, but that is not all that happened. It was still, as a whole, a positive season. There was a hell of a lot of good.

I'm not suggesting people shouldn't talk about the bad. But it's all that gets talked about, as if the good didn't happen at all.

It's fine to say "Yeah we sucked that at the end, it was disappointing, but there was a lot of great games too and overall was pretty decent".
I think there’s a natural reason for that, there’s no need to worry about or analyze the good. You just hope that continues. The bad is what needs be fixed, so it’s the natural focus of the board.

Good leaders and employees celebrate the wins but put in more time on fixing the issues. It’s a natural mental exercise.

Moreover, there are studies that show that the average human being feels loss at twice the magnitude they feel gain. So if that’s the norm, and the loss was more recent, where do we expect the average fan to end up reasonably? Exactly where this board is.

That’s a valid point but we also looked like the least competitive team n the playoffs, no?
Also, every game the Rams won, was won in the final 2 minutes of every game… but ours where they had the game won after the first quarter.

What??? No separate game thread on the re-run of Vikes vs Cards on NFL Network???? It’s a free scouting piece of our newest defensive addition!!!

Seriously though, I am watching it for that very reason. Ugh, the off-season.

This guy is awful. Late on every play and too slow to recover. The pick 6 was all on Kyler making a horrible throw, not anticipation.

The first-ever Wild Card game to be played on a Monday night? National spotlight?

Ours was over before the coin toss.

Nick Vigil after the Chiefs game explained that the defense struggled early (and all game) because "It was our first time playing together as a unit." SMH. This team is so unprepared. It is laughable.
I don’t think it’s going to matter how many times they play together. Vigil is flat out awful.
