Remember another kicker in the past we picked up because of injury...Chris Jacke. I think he did some wonderful things for this organization.

Dont throw Teddy...err...I mean Mike Nugent under the bus just yet. Ive seen him kick and he's pretty good.

If Nugent costs us even one game, he can suck on my machine gun! :D

Mike Nugent was freaking awful this season. He was instrumental in the Buccs loss vs. the Redskins.

He's been terrible his whole career!!! Stupid ass signing!!! Why not sign a proven kicker like John Carney? I just hope & pray that 1 of the next 2 games isn't lost because of a poor decision like this.

:DHey, everybody "COOL IT", all he needs to do is kick extra ponts. We are going to score so many TD's in the next 3 games he won't be needed. Hell I use to kick for my HS, made 10 out of 12. Hey Whiz, ***-***-**** (My Phone Number)

He was Graham's teammate so maybe that played some part...

I hope it is only for one game

I hereby place a cease and desist order on Ted Nugent references.

You have been warned.

I wouldn't worry about his accuracy (yet). Kickers are head cases. That's how we ended up with Rackers. Cut Bill, signed Neil, who was cut from the Bengals because of accuracy issues. He's had them here but seems to have overcome them. Especially since he hasn't had to kick a game deciding FG lately. :)

In Neil's case, he was in Cincy when they had that godawful grass field. Back then it was like kicking in a corn field. He got a raw deal from the Bengals, no one could have been accurate under those conditions.

Oh well, worked out pretty well for us.

Fortunately, I doubt we will need much of a kicking game the next two weeks.
You know Renz, that is a really great point. From what I do remember about Nugent is that he has a real strong leg. Very good for kickoffs.

That was my first thought as well. Suisham was 18-for-21 with Washington this season. Just that one miss against NO cost him the job.

Fortunately, I doubt we will need much of a kicking game the next two weeks.

FWIW, he cost the Skins the Dallas game earlier this season on short kicks as well. The kid does suck in the clutch.

Let's just hope the next two weeks he kicks a lot of Extra Points and Kickoffs.

That's right. I think he missed two FG's in that game that could have clinched a win.

He only had 3 misses with Washington, but those three misses probably cost the 'Skins two wins.

I'm with LauraW on this one...

I very rarely complain about Cardinal "decisions" these-days. In the Past, NONE of what they did or we're trying to do made any sense. So, If we signed Nugent that tells me his "audition" went well. Also, consider that the next (3) games are in-doors in ideal "conditions". There'll be NO EXCUSES! BUT, I doubt very much he kicked (one) thru the up-rights, from 22-yards out, and Whiz' said.... "OKAY! I've seen ENOUGH! You're in!" The real head-scratcher to me is WHY Neil "attempted" a 53-yarder in warm-ups KNOWING his groin was already "tweaked". ?? Seems like an unnecessary risk to take, but then I'm sure he knew his current health better than anyone else so maybe he was testing his leg-strength. Too bad it cost him. GO CARDS!! :D

Nugent is 77/98 in FGs 79%. 55 yard career long.

And he'll be kicking in domes for the next three weeks.

Good signing IMO

When is Vinatieri coming back for the Colts? I thought he was due back this week, which would mean they would discard Matt Stover, who has kicked very well for them this year.

Nugent alway had a strong leg but struggled early on at OSU. It's all mental with him. He supposedly got a "tip" from a former OSU kicker and that set in motion him becoming a very good kicker. I'm sure once he gets back into his routine, like most kickers or golfers, he'll be fine again. I think he may struggle. At OSU everything was set and it was pretty much a controlled environment for him. Now he's fighting for a job and dealing with changing holders, snappers, teams etc. Once he gets that figured out, i think he'll be OK. I just don't know if that is going to be with the Cards.I kind of doubt it.

He's not perfect..... But Ben Graham was his holder in the past. i think that made this decision a slam dunk.
