lol I posted a link earlier in the thread of Leinart thowing him a TD in the Orange Bowl that obviously nobody watched...:bang:

man nobody pays attention to my posts lol:mulli:, I mean, I know I dont have 45thousand posts like some of the veterans of this board, but that's just because I try to stay out of it unless I feel like I have something valuable to add to the discussion.

Ok I'll shutup and go back to my corner now, sorry for the outburst.

Duly noted. Like it. Rattle our cages.

I should be the one to apologize, I totally missed it. Good call by you. My USC memories start to all blend together so I just wasn't sure.

Something else to consider, good or bad, the Cardinals have now signed two recent ex-Rams TE's. On the one hand, the Rams really don't know how to use a TE so Byrd's and Becht's lack of success may not be entirely linked to a lack of ability. On the other hand, if they're not good enough to cut it with the Rams...

I still wish the Cardinals would have just cut the 27 TE's they now have on the roster and ponied up to get Gonzalez. Even with only a year or two left(according to him) I'd rather have those two good years of production than fart around(again) with re-re-tread's at the TE spot.

LOL! I loved this post. I feel you completely. I have been nearly a daily visitor since 2002 and just recently started posting because I have had back to back to back surgeries and have been bored out of my mind. My posts are rarely commented on (I guess that says something about the value of my posts huh :D ) but I at least feel the satisfaction that my opinion is being heard by people who at least know what the heck I am talking about...I think.

fwiw, I enjoy both of your posts (posting?). I have noticed, binkar, that you've been more vocal lately; hope you're healing well.

Having a jillion posts doesn't mean you're important or know more, or that you post anything of value. Usually means quite the opposite. (13th highest post count on the board) :D

I second that re-mark.

Byrd is like most USC players under Carroll. Play great in college when surrounded by all that talent and struggle in the NFL when the talent is equal.

he's a reach...but if he can get his stuff together...he may be alright. He'd have to blow up in training camp to get any time on the field.

I feel your pain.

I've found the best way to really get attention is to post something stupid. That allows other posters to respond and show you how truely stupid your post really was.

Works for me every time. ;)

That's interesting. I was a lurker from the very beginning but didn't sign up till after I got back from Iraq in 2004. I still rarely posted until recently.

I have to agree with some others though, at least in my own case, that more posting doesn't always equal better posts. When I first started posting it was only when I had pertinent information, like what I saw at training camp, an article I read, or something I heard on the radio.

The more you post the more it becomes about opinion. Since I started to voice my opinion my posting accuracy has seemed to decline. Go figure. :D

Disagree with this sentiment as it is too simplistic.

The reality is when you place 10 people a year in the NFL there are going to be some standouts, some marginal to okay players, and some busts.

The only school I can think of that has beat that precedent and had both quantity AND quality (it was for only a 3-4 year period) was the 2001 - 2004 UM squads.

Otherwise it just doesn't happen. You aren't suggesting OSU has had a higher rate of big time players over the last decade are you Cbus??:)

Andy Katzenmoyer and Bobby Carpenter take umbrage at your remarks. :)

Actually, if you look at TOSU players who have been drafted - http://www.drafthistory.com/colleges/o.html
there a lot of good players.

Except for the Longhorns. While we may not produce really spectacular players our guys stick. From 2000-2008 Texas had 36 players drafted. I think all but a couple are still on NFL rosters.

One who isn't is Cedric Woodard drafted in 2000 who had a 6 year NFL career. Sloan Thomas and Rod Babers are others. Now that Mike Williams has been picked up by Washington I think every other guy is still in the league although I may have missed one or two.

You have got to be kidding me DJ. Texas is the most overatted program in terms of NFL talent. Bust is a subjective term and I guess if I say "bust" relative to draft position I am killing my USC argument but UT guys always underwhelm under Mack Brown. In fact I would like to see what guys have outperformed their relative draft position - everyone from Roy Williams, to Mike Williams, to Quentin Jammer, to VY and on and on. I think Orapko is going to be a bustola too.

OSU has its issues too with LB's and QB's and of course Ted Ginn being undewhelming.

I know I just opened up a can of worms with this post. But I think USC is as much of a legit football factory the last ten years as anybody. I would say USC has as many players that "stick" as UT.

Like I said the Texas players are seldom spectacular but they are steady long term players and for every Roy Williams, Ricky Williams and Cedric Benson you have a Priest Holmes, Selvin Young, or Lyle Sendlein.

Over hyped star offensive players I will agree but if you want a solid lunch pail player Longhorns are a good bet. Just ask coach Whisenhunt how he feels about Lyle Sendlein, the Steelers about Hampton, or the Browns about Shaun Rogers.

You should reconsider your take on Jammer. He had 88 tackles and 19 pdfs last season. The guy has become a real solid player for SD the last 4 years.

What is really strange is that Texas is known for its offense yet it is their defensive players that have done best in the NFL.

NOTE: I wouldn't call Roy Williams a bust regardless of his draft position. Nobody has been able to shine in Detroit since Barry Sanders retired. :D

A name that woul be illegal in California. Other protested names in that state: Fighting Irish (JFK High) and Rebels. Both in Orange County. (Just thought I'd throw that in.)

South Mountain High School was originally the Rebels and the original mascot was a Southern Colonel.

Not sure why he was signed. Had a a real knack for catching the ball, when he played at USC. But, was injured a lot. Not a blocker type of TE at USC.

Sheesh. Fishing for attention like Britney Spears. Flash your bear butt and we'll notice. Worked for her.

Seriously, hope your surgeries help what ails you. Wish you well.
