I want to see a film clip on the jumbotron of Sean Connery saying;

"Welcome to THE ROCK!"

I'm down like a clown for that. Let's hope that's what it turns out to be.

That list is a bit outdated.

You now have Dolphin Stadium in place of Pro Player Stadium, Monster Park in place of Candlestick Park, and LP Field in place of The Coliseum. Just thought I'd mention it.

This site is also a good reference for stadium/naming rights info: http://www.sportsvenues.com/.

If by some miracle they could wrangle a kick ass name like Hard Rock Stadium or Hard Rock Field at Cardinal Stadium then I would bow down to Mike Bidwill as being the baddest ass man in Phoenix.

Names like that would seriously...well...rock.

"HARD HITS AT HARD ROCK" the weekly video highlights show, ESPN guys saying "he got rocked hard at the Hard Rock", etc.

You gotta wonder what type of comarketing opportunities exist for the Cards and Hard Rock;

* Party bus from Vegas to Glendale on Gamedays?
* Inclusive Super/Fiesta/BCS Game packages that include lodging in Vegas and a bus to the game?
* Pink Taco in the Stadium?

If it has to do with Morton's stakehouse we could refer to it as the "Slaughter House". (It works whether we are really good or really bad)

Haha hopefully the former and not the latter.

The Mortons sold the Hard Rock so I'm not sure why they would want it named Hard Rock Stadium. Unless the Hard Rock is also in on the negotiations I can't see it being named that

Didn't the Hard Rock close down in Phx? Why would we now name a stadium after it?

I think I prefer, Pink Taco Field at The ************* Stadium.

Hope the Cards are filet mignon, and not ground chuck. Blah blah blah.

Qwest Field in Seattle went for $75M over 15 years - there were some provisions though where paul allens company (vulcan inc) would have to use Qwest for their operations

$5M a year isn't bad when you have no hope for a SB, major bowl game or NCAA event - which makes this $3M a year seem very, very light

also that list is outdated and put together by a group that is opposed to any public financing of stadiums - just something to keep in mind while looking at their numbers

With the Bidwill's involved I doubt it will be a brand like Hard Rock.

Something like Baskin-Robbins would be more their style.

No kidding. It's also fitting that the worst food in the stadium was Mr. B's Bowtie BBQ (obvioulsy named after Bill). It was horrible

Because the Hard Rock isn't closed down everywhere else, and naming rights aren't just for the local market...they are for national TV games and major events like the Fiesta Bowl, national championship, super bowl, etc.

I thought the Hard Rock was still open here though...didn't just Planet Hollywood close down?

I think you guys are confusing the hard rock locations. There is one near the Arizona center and there was one on 24th and Camelback. The one on camelback is closed IIRC.

How about the Hard Rock Cardinals Stadium and the Planet Hollywood Players Lockerroom? Then we can have two restaurant sponsors whose quality is equally overrated as our football team! Ziiiiiiiiiiiiiiing! I kid, I kid.

Yup, they moved in the middle of the night to their downtown location.

24th st. and Camelback was Planet Hollywood and that closed a long time ago. A Cheesecake Factory is there now. The only Hard Rock Arizona has ever had is the one downtown (directly across from US Airways Center) which I believe is still open

I used to live behind the mall containing the Planet Hollywood/Cheesecake Factory. There was a Hard Rock in the area at about 26th Street and Camelback. The building (across from the Bank One) is still empty.

My bad, I don't recall a Hard Rock being in the Biltmore area. Interesting

I just remembered it being there myself. Didn't know it was there when it was actually open.

Last years ASU/USC game just started on ESPN Classics if anyone wants to watch it. Leinart struggled a bit that game and ASU fans will turn the channel at halftime. Thought I'd throw it out there for anyone who's interested
