At worst, he is a stopgap for the rest of the season. I think he's better than Edmunds as an all around back....
he is. Edmonds is a change of pace IMO. He had that huge game but we all knew it would not continue if he was the feature back.

Yet, a week ago you thought they were all true HOF’ers. Where was all this bitching when we were winning?
When Cards win, I generally praise. When they don't, they see my b******g. What is the beef here pal?

I like the trade. Don’t know why anyone wouldn’t.

In this offense, Drake can be every bit effective as DJ.
Keeping Drake/Edmonds and trading Johnson on the off season would be a good move depending on cap ramifications.
And I like DJ but he’s just a guy in this offense.

Drake has a real chance of making David Johnson look bad. All he has to do is put together a few good performances and David Johnson is no longer in the league. David Johnson got paid a tremendous amount of money and has not yet backed up his paycheck

Funny 98.7 talking about the compensatory pick now. Wasn't this morning. Interesting

It always seems to happen doesn't. Don't hear some news/ideas about a topic other then here, then I start hearing them talking about said subject on the radio? Coincidence?? ;)

Lol
It's our best receiver, the most important piece of our offense

Lol his cap hit and dead money alone make him untouchable until 2021. He’s apart of this team for at least the next year and a half.

And it's good
He just need to play as full time receiver
Maybe dropping some weight and he ll be easily a 1000 yards guy for season

I forgot who coined it, but a Larry Center's type role is best suited for him moving forward. That doesn't mean you don't run the ball with him, but he a much bigger threat catching the ball.

I disagree. I think kyler playing out the season with even less weapons would stunt his growth. 6th or 5th for a rental for a guy who will be much better than Alf or ZZ is worth it to keep kyler’s development moving forward.

I’ll be surprised if we resign him at seasons end. He’d have to really shine for that to happen.

Been swamped at work so I'm late to the party but I totally agree with this take.

Bringing in Drake isn't about winning more games this season or the fact that we traded a late round draft pick next year. It's about giving your franchise QB a fighting chance to continue to grow.

Last season the Cards ruined Rosen by sticking him behind a makeshift OL with a terrible offensive scheme and no weapons. They can't allow that to happen again with Murray.

How much of a help will Drake be against the Niners with a day of practice under his belt? Probably not much. However going forward he will give Murray at least a decent option should DJ and Edmonds miss additional games.

As for Morris, that guy is done. I can't see him providing anything at this point in his career. Well maybe other than shedding some light on the Niners offense since he played in it last year.

Disagree completely. He would struggle at WR running routes against cornerbacks.

this x1000

DJ would never see an inch of separation if he was guarded by a CB.
Did we overpay DJ? sure, but he's not going to be unemployed next year and is likely the most complete RB on our team when completely healthy. I love Edmonds but in no world is he making some of the catches DJ had this year (TD vs falcons, TD vs Lions, and a sideline fade vs Ravens or Bengals, cant remember)

IMO Edmonds is a great role player. DJ when healthy is a top 15 RB in this league. Health is a major issue lately though. Still obviously wouldnt be unemployed any time soon.

Hasn’t been consistently productive since 2016 and misses blocks for the QB that the team has been built around. Also a position that is relatively easy to replace in later draft rounds.
