Working lede should be:

"Cards move to bolster CB situation."

He's not Patrick Peterson's twin, but he may be a seviceable veteran who adds some potential depth to the position.

(Another way we can look at it is: What would be like in the secondary without at least the presence of someone like Taylor)?

Two things:
1. Look at what you're getting and not what you're giving up.
2. Will he be one of our best three CB's?

Consider me excited if he is capable of being the starter opposite Patrick Peterson. And the price, a 6th round pick in 2020 is reasonable.

Average CB is all we need on that side IMO.

Actually I'm not sure it is adequate. He is going to be thrown at constantly, hopefully he can hold up. I know nothing about him, I am hoping for the best.

The fact they made this move suggests what we have did not look to good, which is a problem because you need more than 2 corners.

We have had plenty average guys there, like tramon Williams last year, that always do just fine. You can't have two top tier corners. That's rare unless one is a draft pick

Actually according to PFF, Tramon Williams was above average, and this guy was average, but at least he is several years younger.

He better work. We are lacking depth at almost every position, unless we are almost injury free our chances of competing for a playoff spot is almost nil.

An average player can be above average when next to pp21

Tramon was above average last year. Given that GB drafted 2 CB's they are hedging their $10n bet on him in 2918/19. What we have is a guy with the tools and experience derived from a host of starts. Can't say with certainty but there is middling to high hope for solid play here.

P.S. Every team has depth problems to a greater or lesser extent; it's the nature of a CAP league .

Makes you wonder why we didn't sign EJ Gaines when we had a chance????

Edit:

IIRC Gaines was offered 2.5 mil and left. Went to Cleveland and signed for 3.5 mil. Now we are trading a pick to acquire a guy who makes even more money and Gaines is taking his place. We also help out the Browns with cap space.

I think we needed a veteran presence.
