How did some of the rookies like Blackstock, Green, Mitchell, etc. look tonight?

Anyone show any promise?

Its hard to tell on a certain extent (I'll watch the replay later to look for more detailed observations on rookies and things of that matter). Our CBs looked solid mostly due to the fact that the Boys' WRs did absolutely nothing

Blackstock was in on a pseudo-sack (Romo had intentional grounding call when Blackstock was trying to bring him down).

Mitchell was in on a couple of plays.

They mostly looked like rookies ... have promise but also need work

Sounds about right for this early in the season. Good to hear about the secondary. I'm assuming Green and Rolle did ok then. thanks.

Rolle was very solid. Believe it or not the Boys tried to go to his side fairly often and did so with little success. He even had a very nice pass deflection in the end zone

Green its a little tougher to say becuase it didn't seem like they challenged him all that much. However in saying that with the Boys' WRs doing absolutely nothing I think its pretty safe to say he did well

Did Lecky hold up ok tonight? It sounds like the oline is getting mixed reviews for the first quarter tonight.

I tried to watch him some, and I think he did okay. I never noticed him getting beat. He wasn't getting a push, but he wasn't making whiffs either. The pass protection was better for Warner than I thought it would be.

Leckey and the rest of the Cards first string Oline was solid on pass protection. It looks like they still need work on run blocking

Same could be said of our 2nd and 3rd string Olines as well

Dennis Green seemed to play totaly vanilla offense according to what you all are reporting, and mostly vanilla d..Did CP Blitz very much? I just hate the CowPunks, :biglaugh: so this game does feel good holding their O out of the end zone.. How did we get the Safety at the end on us? Thanks for all the info!!!

Thoughts on the game tonight.

QB - Warner looked impressive tonight. Stayed in the pocket, but didn't hold on to ball excessively. The only time he really got hit was on a play where the defender wasn't blocked, and he still completed the pass. It is nice to see a quarterback with some accuracy and touch on the ball.
McCown looked very poor tonight. Nothing looked smooth, and forced several passes. Did not look comfortable in the pocket, and had little touch. He had to take a step backward in the coaches eyes tonight.
Navarre was calm and cool in the pocket, and seemed to throw a nice ball. The Cowboys announcers talked about him moving in the pocket to avoid the rush a couple of times. Looked better than McCown.

RB - Arrington was never allowed to get into much of a rhythm, but looked like he will be fine. His best run was his last when he got taken out because he got the wind knocked out of him. Look forward to seeing a lot more of him next week vs. Kansas City.
Redmond had a great night as a returner. Had a good punt return and later returned a kick past the 50. Looks like a keeper, broke some tackles, and caught a ball out of the backfield.
Jackson Slow. Got caught for a big loss on his first play going to the sideline, and looked as though Liberace was playing a piano on his back. Ran tough a few times up the middle.
Anderson looked like he was quick with some speed, and had some nice runs. Raised his stock tonight.

WR - Fitzgerald looked a step quicker this year. Made a great play on the TD pass, and was impressive all around. Grab him on your fantasy team, and watch him light people up.
Johnson was impressive also. He looks more confident, and Warner has confidence in him also.
The rest of the WR's didn't stand out. Several made catches but nothing exceptional. Maybe some others noticed things out of this group.

Offensive Line: As a group pass blocked very well. Warner was really only touched a couple of times, and hit hard once. Handled Dallas' first team well. Didn't open the holes up for the running game as much as the team would have probably wanted, but not sure that they were allowed to get into a rhythm. Mostly pass plays called. Others will probably have better info on the line.

DEFENSE:

First team looked awesome. They played with great intensity, and were in the backfield continually. Stuffed Jones for 10 yds on 6 carries, and hurried or sacked Bledsoe continually in the pass game. Berry had a nice sack, and many others made plays. Dockett and Wilson made some big time plays in the backfield. Rolle did not start but made 3 outstanding plays in a row in one series. He looks to be very physical, and will fit in with the D nicely. I thought that Macklin looked good as well. Others will probably have some good insight as well.

Special Teams:

Looked great except for the blocked punt late. Coverage teams made several big hits, and Rackers hit the crossbar on the opening kickoff. Player looks like a bad man in the new unis and punted well.

Good Start, our first team is light years ahead of last year at this point.

I often noticed Leckey burying guys on the backside of plays. Green didn't evben have the ball thrown near him but was solid on ST. For the second team D Rolle, Blackstock, and Pace really stood out. Pace made some tremendous plays; he is in great shape and had excellent pursuit from the weak side on almost every play.

I thought the O-line picked up where they left off last year. Which was a group of good pass protectors. And considering that our srating RT and C weren't playing, it was promising.

The run blocking needs work. But that will come (and improve when Step and Ross return). Fortunatley, getting a line to run block is easier then getting a line to pass block.

He had one nice run.

The only way he raised his stock today was not becasue of his play but becuase Jackson looked horrid.

Run blocking and running game needs attention and should be an area of concern. Nothing to panic yet but requires work.

If I'm not mistaken... I remember the boys having a solid run defense.

Didn't Anderson catch a screen for some yards tonight too Joe? It seemed like he did.

Wow, 5 more yards. to go along with 1 run of 22 yards and 3 yards with a grand total of zero yards.

Far from a performance that raises your stock, IMO.

Again he only raise dhis stock becuase Jackson sucked and Anderson looked average.

I don't know Joe. Anderson sure looked like he wanted it more than Jackson did. He was really pumped up and ready to play as was JR Redmond. We have some real competition at running back this year and it will be interesting to see who comes out on top.

JR really did well returning punts and kickoffs. I think tonight's game puts him slightly ahead of the pack.

OK, we now know that you were not impressed with Anderson. I think he showed some burst tonight. Let's move on to other subjects.
