I agree....we draft 3 DEs??? I can understand one of those being a corner, linebacker, or and offensive line. But this is ridiculous. We had plenty of depth on the line as it was

Don't people usually say it is one of the best? I like the fact we added lots of defensive players. That is our weakness and we added guys who can get to the passer if they pan out. I still wanted a pass rushing OLB.

what makes you the expert. it's my opinion that the Cards missed the boat on the 2nd day.

Which means it will probably be our best in years.

Watch Hightower turn into a probowler or something.

what makes a scout or Jerry Jones an expert? Everyone hits and misses. It's still anybodys interpretation and a roll of the dice.

Then everyone will say they knew it from the moment he was drafted.

Exactly.. neither of us are in the position to make the claim that this is the worst 2nd day ever, etc..

Our coaches know the system.. they know the depth.. they know where they need improvements..

They draft accordingly..

IMO, they've gotten steals at the WR and RB position..

I dont love the defensive picks today, cause i felt we really needed a safety.. but im not gonna argue when the Dline coach says to take a guy he's recruited and coached.. he knows a ton more than i do about the guy

I've watched Harrington play a lot, and he is a "motor" player, a smart player. IMO, he's as good as Kyle Vanden Bosch was coming out of college. He makes a lot more sense to me that Iwembuma.

To me, it looks like we plan to dump Okeafor or Berry, or both, before it is all said and done for the final roster.

3/4 alignment:

Nose T: Watson / Branch

D-ends: Dockett (Campbell) Smith (Webema) (Harrington)

Outside LB: Okeafor / Haggans / Laboy / Berry

Inside: LB: Hayes / Dansby / Beisel / Holloway

D-line vets: Robinson and Tafoya.

This lineup allows Pendy to create a variety of 3 / 4 - 4 / 3 and 5 / 2 - formations.

Agreed. I think teams really will have a hard time gameplanning for our defense. Maybe not a lot of a-listers, but when it comes to the front-7, they'll never really know what they're going to see.

EDIT: Mix in Adub blitzes and it makes it even tougher.

You need to ammend your statement there, Brewster. You just said he can't say it's the worst 2nd day ever, but you're allowed to go on to claim it's been a good 2nd day? Talk about hypocrisy. ANYBODY is allowed to say what they want, and ANYBODY ELSE is allowed to disagree.

I think he's right; we drafted terribly today. A panic pick, taking an UDFA, a few DEs that are head-scratchers, and a good WR that should have been a good OLB (who was available). Oh well. We had a good first day.

Sorry stout but panic picks come in rounds 1 and 2 maybe 3. But no way in hell you can call picks in rounds 4-7 panic picks.

EXACTLY!

I feel like we're watching a real NFL team make picks for once. If you are trying to address needs on Day 2 of the draft, like we've done a lot in the past, you might as well get ready to pencil in a 4-12 record for the next season.

Panic picks can come anywhere in the draft, Shane. Reaching for a guy because you're afraid you haven't addressed that need and passing on a higher-rater prospect is making a panic pick, IMO.

You just contradicted yourself. We drafted the Hightower kid way before he should have been (probably would have gone undrafted), and we took him because we needed a RB.

The problem is that the fans aren't used to the Cards drafting BPA instead of drafting for need as stated by ajcf.

They were pretty true to their board. In the 4th they wanted an 3-4 OLB
and the 5th a RB. Before that you could say they just went with the highest graded player for sure.

Just because one guy on the message board stated that he may have gone unfrafted doesnt make it so. Mel Kiper a smuch as bonehead as he is gave good reviews on the kid and liked the pick.
