Master's Degrees and Doctorates are impressive, but playing and coaching semi-pro football doesn't exactly make me think somebody is ready for the NFL, male or female. I'd be more excited if she had coached football on a full 100 yard field at a competitive high school or college level at some point. I guess we'll see, but I've got to imagine there is another woman out there with more true football coaching experience.

She's an intern, which means she'll be learning through experience. Her impact on game planning, plays, etc. will be small.

You learn through experience.

As a father to three girls, I'm looking forward to pointing her out on the sideline this preseason. It'll have to be on TV, but still. First time Sean Witherspoon (sp?) crushes someone, I can say, she is his coach. Very proud of her, and I know my kids will be doubly impressed.

Go Cards!!!

Wow. The Cards are getting massive props for this and her credentials are damn near impeccable for anyone who has never played in the NFL or NCAA.

It begs the question... Would a male with the exact same credentials get this gig? (including the void of Collegiate or NFL experience)

She has her work cut out for her, that's for sure.

Bill Belichick's collegiate credentials comprise of being a fringe roster spot as a sometime Center or Tight End. Heard he is a pretty good coach. I don't think his experience playing in the Wesleyan University football program trumps Dr. Jen's experience as a semi-pro player.

The thing that keeps getting glossed over is the fact that she has no relevant coaching experience of football on a 100 yard field. In the Presser, BA even mentioned another woman he knew of who was a Junior College Coach in Mississippi for a long time, and that's how he knew one might make it to the NFL some day. Why wouldn't someone like that have been brought in? Someone who has paid their coaching dues. Playing semi-pro football at the local high school for 14 years doesn't make one qualified to coach or intern for an NFL team. I've known plenty of guys over the years who continue playing semi-pro here in AZ, and absolutely love the game, but I don't want them trying to tell NFL players how to play linebacker.

Yeah.. just glaze past the fact that Belichick's father was a collegiate scout/coach and that little Billy lived, breathed, slept and ate football starting a few moments after birth.

Yeah, except Dr. Welter is built like a tank.

Wonder who'd wrap up the tackling dummies better: her or Kevin Minter...
