Why does Boldin even have an agent. Seriously, there are some athletes out there who don't have agents. One that comes to mind is St. Louis Cardinal pitcher Matt Morris. Boldin seems like an intelligent guy. I think he'd be smart to negotiate his own contract. I can't remember the terms or how official it was, but the deal that was talked about on this board recently seemed more than fair for Q. If he fired Rosenhaus and represented himself, not only would he save the commission but he'd send a message to that greedy bastard of an agent.

More and more basketball players negotiate their own contracts and pay a lawyer to review the paperwork, but not to negotiate. I think Ray Allen did that then just paid Johnny Cochran 5K to check the language in the contract to make sure he wasn't screwed. Saved himself 5% of 100 million contract.

If a contract can't be agreed upon soon I would just make an example out of Boldin and tell him fine, we won't trade you, have fun sitting out for two years. Let's see how large your next contract will be.

The great thing about this theory is in two years, he will find out he still has two year on his contract with the Cards. I believe you have to play X amount of time for it to count as a year. This is my approach also, I wish Boldin wouldn't be such a prick about this. I have know idea what the Cards are offering him, but if Rosenhaus expects him to be paid as a top 3 reciever, I say let him sit. Tell him to take all crap from the locker room and come back when you get back down to reality.

Yes, but if your employer was trying to work something out with you, would you refuse to go to work in the mean time? Anquan is getting some bad advice and if this continues, he'll be playing somewhere else this year.
Exactly!!!!

IMO there's a huge difference between Q and the other hold-outs, because Q is the only player where the team is actually willing to give him a new deal. The other players are holding out to force a new deal, but that's not the case with Q. The team wants to give a new deal, so he's holding out to get better leverage on the negotiation table. That's the reason why I, personally, am a bit disapointed in Q.

Thats exactly right Bach. Here are the facts (and they are undistputable)

A) Boldin deserves more than he's making
B) Boldin has had one good year.
C) Boldin has a history of injuries
D) The Cardinals have thrown a big number at him.

Add that up and what do you get? Boldin should squeeze an extra few hundred k out of the cards above their current offer, and then get his butt in camp!

Boldin is tough and has good hands. He breaks arm tackles from safties and CBs like he's playing against children. He might be a top five receiver in the league, but we can't be sure because we haven't seen enough of him healthy!

We want him, we need him, but great googleimooglei! Quan wake up and smell the coffee! You're blowing it!

I hate to say this, but I've been thinking about this situation with Boldin and here's some points:

1. Denny wants players with the right attitude who want to be here and want to win. He doesn't care for guys who are causing problems no matter how good they are (i.e. Pete Kendall) and will get rid of them if they are a distraction.

2. Denny's #1 receiver has to be Fitzgerald. He knows the kid and Fitz is signed and has lots of potential. Both Fitz and Boldin have similar talents, neither is a speedster.

This all makes me think that Boldin needs to get this deal done before camp or he is gone. Denny will get the kind of players he needs in a trade for Boldin.

Imagine if one of your co-workers you out-performed was making 30x as much money as you are! If I was Boldin I would be upset as well!

Does the guy making 30x as much money ever give some back if he is not performing as well as the other guy making less?

My thanks to everone who has posted on this thread.

You have validated my feelings and thoughts about the whole issue of Boldin, his agent, and the way the Cards are dealing with him.

This is a team game, Denny's the coach, Boldin has a contract, so Boldin needs to be in mini-camp or his days are numbered as a Cardinal.

Cards play and WIN twice in Texas this year, YAHOO

But, if you are under contract you come to work. Period. You can be upset but that is life my friend. Life is not fair.

Or imagine if you hired a contractor to build a house for you. Half-way through construction he said "I found out the guy building a house down the street paid his contractor more than you're paying me. I'm not going to spend another day working on your house until you triple my pay."

There's no clear cut answer on this one. Hopefully the negotions go fast and both sides are willing to compromise to reach an agreement.

Yes there is...there is a contract. The Cards are willing to step up but Boldin is screwing himself up.
