I am not a regional fan like many of you...I DO remember back in the day the whoopings the dallas dynasty put on the cards ( 15 or something games in a row).

So tell me, is the angst still there with the cowboys, why to Arizonians hate the cowboys and their fans so much??

They used to be a division rival before reallignment happened. Everyone hates their division rivals. Plus there used to be a huge Cowboys fan base here in the valley. So the stadium was always overrun with Cowboys fans when they came to town to play.

Most Cardinal fans look at Cowboys fans as annoying bandwagon fans. (Which, in the 90's, was mostly true.)

Those that have suffered through the absolute garbage of the past 15+ years are definitely not bandwagon Cowboys fans. Unfortunately, with their recent "success" (barely half of a season) the bandwagon is getting full again.

The Cardinals are playing really well. So I can see why fans would be annoyed that there are STILL people from AZ jumping on the Cowboys bandwagon.

The Cowboy fan-base was built before the Cards came to AZ...AZ was in the Dallas regional broadcasting area...Once the Cards came, fans from New Mexico would come to AZ for the games, because PHX was closer than Dallas. The large fan-base hasn't gone away, it's just the Cards winning and the new stadium has made it more difficult for them to overwhelm at the local games.

I think it has to be that(bandwagon fans/Americas team bs). I hate that with the Yankees in baseball. I sympathize with folks because non of the other Dallas teams have a national following so I get annoyed too. Although the western us has fans of other teams that either moved out there or were fans before AZ had a team is what some fans say.

There are cowboys fans that are one way in texas then there are cowboys fans that live elsewhere and they act completely different at games. It's actually embarrassing for me and I try my best to socialize with the other teams fans in a friendly manner to end the stereotypes but it is hard. In the game in 08 when y'all beat us I had a great time at the game with cards fans and they were very nice to me. After the game it was great seeing y'all celebrate and stick it to us when we left. We deserved it. A drunk lady ran up to me after the game in the parking lot and was in my ear laughing at me it was awesome.

This ^

I was never a Cowboy fan per se, but my oldest son became one because that's who we saw play every season. Ironically, we also saw a lot of the Raider games on NBC back in the day and another son became a Raider fan.

I, on the other hand, was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. I don't know why, maybe it was Jim Hart and the Air Coryell days, maybe it was because Dad was a St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan. At any rate, I have loved the football Cards for over 45 years.

While I don't have the "hate" for the Cowboys (or any other team for that matter), I certainly never rooted for them. Other than the Cards, even before they came to the Valley, I was a fan more of players than teams I think.

So, to many the Cowboys were the local team here in the Valley for many years before the Cardinals showed up. For some, the loyalty runs deep and remains to this day.

Lucky for me, both of my boys became Cardinal fans once they came to the Valley. We all root for the home team, even when they were absolute suckage in prior years :)

Go Cards!

For 40 yrs I've listened to all the venom & giggles...and until Feb 2009 my greatest day as a fan was the 1998 playoff victory in which I attended & celebrated for years.

I just remember in the 70's watch Roger Stuabach drive down the field for winning Td or FG in multiple games. Drove my dad and I nuts. What really cemented my dislike for them was the Cards would never get breaks in the game. One mistake would cost us the game. I remember when Steve Jones was running toward the end zone and his leg comes up and knocks the ball out of his hands. Cannot remember if he was hit or not. Cowboys recovered in the end zone.

One other time OJ Anderson's first game as a pro where he ran for well over 150 yrds. We hit the side of the upright and the ball bounced out on the game winning FG with no time remaining. If the Ball would have been an inch or so to the right it would have gone in and we win the game.

Just things like that always seemed to happen when we played the Cowboys.

The hate is real. Of course I come from a family of Bay Area Niners fans too, so I've been raised to hate Jerruh's Kids

OJ's first game John...I remember it like it was yesterday my friend. He had like 167 yds & a 76 yd TD in the closing mins. Like u said the Dodger brought the Cowpies back & the child molester Rafael Septein clanked his FG off the uprights at the buzzer for a 22-21 loss

Coryell hated Dallas & funneled it throught the organization & it was a war each time they made them wear those dreaded blue jerseys...good times!

I've actively hated the Cowboys since the day Jerry Jones fired Coach Landry. Which happened when I was a Rams fan. He treatment of both Landry and his family was about as low as it gets.

Jones has repeatedly shown he no class. I'd give a colorful description of what I think Jones is but this is a family board. Suffice it to say hating his team is quite easy.

Bucky,

Thanks for correcting me. Forgot it was the Cowboys kicker who hit the upright and the ball went in. Now I remember. What I also remember is I think it was Dierdorf saying saying to the media right after the game about the Cowboys FG is if the ball is 1 inch to the left the ball bounces out and Cards win. It is a game of inches.

I have been a Cardinal fan since the mid '70s. I hate the Cowboys still more than any other team. Being a native Texan and still living in the state, my hate has increased 10 fold having to hear the Dallas hyperbole media barrage. I live in south central Texas, so being expected to have any loyalty to the arrogant franchise which lives far above me and hours away would be unfounded. The people in the Dallas/Fort Worth area are a completely different persona than those found in Houston, San Antonio or Austin. I said I was a fan of the Cardinals since the '70s, I really feel there is no reason for me to even get into it why I would hate them with such a passion lol

I have lived in the DFW metroplex since 1992 and also attended the GREAT Cardinal win over the Cowboys in 1998. I actually still have the Dallas Morning newspaper sports page that covered the Card's win.

I have tickets to the game this Sunday and will be proudly wearing my Cardinal gear. Hope to meet a few ASFN'ers there.

I will never hate a team as much as I hate the eagles. My brother is a Cowboy fan so I never really developed that hatred. Anger, and distaste for, yes, but that was more a result of getting smacked by the Boys twice a year.
