Hatred for everything Cowboy was a big part of the reason I became a Card fan. Not really sure why to begin with, but as others have mentioned the whole Staubach era just cemented it for me. Funny thing is, no one around me understood it because Roger and I went to the same military academy and I was supposed to a fan of his. I just hated those teams with a passion.

Jerruh just plain gives me the creeps. The guy is a pathetic little creature.
I'm frankly embarrassed for their fans.... j/k

The 9ers now run a close 2nd.

Go Cards!!!

I lived in the DC area for 12 years during the Skins glory years. Now I've been in Eagles country for 20 years. Because of having to listen to the locals over the years, I hate the Skins & Eagles far more than the Cowboys.

when we played the cowgirls at sun devil stadium is where I really got my hatred for them. there fans are only 2nd to the Raiders fans as the worst. At one cowgirls game this couple were sitting behind us and his wife left to use the restroom and didn't come back. the guy got worried and asked us to watch there stuff while he went to check.
He came back a while later to get his stuff and told us that his wife was coming out of the restroom when a cowgirl fan (a dude) just walked up to her and hitting her in the face and almost knocked her out. for no reason except she was wearing a cardinals jersey I guess. never saw them again. I also remember a guy walking around with a sign saying THE DALLAS FELONS. that one always made me laugh. I hate the cowgirls!!

Don't forget former ASU/Cowboy MLB Bob Breunig played there at the same time.....

And Jim Jeffcoat in the early 80's. From the same time as Breunig, IIRC, Fast Freddie Williams got a shot with the Cowboys too but I don't think he made the squad.

The Cardinals were in the NFC east for years before realignment. Thus we played the Cowboys every year at home, and it was always a home game for Dallas.

Seriously people who go to games now and complain about opposing teams fans have no idea. It's a sea of Red with patches of Green or Gold or Yellow, but it's still a vast majority of Cardinals fans. When Dallas came to SDS, it was a HOME GAME. There were the same 20k loyal Cardinals fans at the game, with 50 THOUSAND drunken Cowboys bandwagoners, because that's when Dallas was at the height of their 90's dynasty, domination. It was the only game the Cards would sell out every year, and it was all Cowboy "fans."

I've told this story here before so I'll try to be brief but one year, I believe it was in the 98' season. It was the game where the Cowboys jumped up 28-0 but the Cards came back and should have won but the most blatant PI ever was NOT CALLED but that's not the point.

The point is I was at that game, I took my sister because my Dad couldn't go and we had season tickets. We were literally the only two people in our section wearing red and there came a point where we weren't even watching the game anymore, we were literally afraid for our lives. When it was 28-0 We had GROWN MEN screaming in our faces that we should go *&*# ourselves, spilling beer on us and putting their hands on us. It got so bad that we were trying to leave and guys were standing in our way not letting us out of the row, my sister was bawling, I was trying to stay in front of her and FINALLY a policeman working the game came and rescued us. They moved us up to the club section and treated us like royalty. I remember the cop screaming at the Cowboys fans; "What the hell is the matter with you? They are KIDS."

That's why I LOVE the Cardinals, and that is why I HATE the Cowboys and the vast majority of their fans. (Present company excluded Lorenzo)

Bert, I remember that game. The PI was on Rob Moore if I remember correctly. I ran outside my house screaming and across the street to a church parking lot I was so livid about that call!

It was so bad dude, as blatant as it gets, which made it that much better when we spanked em in the playoffs later that year. :)

Cowboys fans see it as one-sided rivalry, which it is outside of Arizona, but in the state it makes total sense. Many switched when the Cardinals came to town, but others did not because the Cards were already a divisional rival at the time, and the divisional doormat. Plus as bad as Jerry Jones can be, the Bidwills weren't an inspiring alternative for a lot of years.

Even though it's been over a decade since they were divisional rivals, I still probably prefer seeing the Cards beat the Cowboys over anyone else (barring playoff implications). It still means something. Plus, a lot of memorable wins and losses there...

The NFC West is a great division, but kind of weird. New and rotating rivalries. If the Rams were still in Southern California, they might have a stronger rivalry with the Niners, and the Cards-Seahawks as a new one. That's how it looked for the first few years...

Here's a fun, positive article

Here's a fun, positive article on the Cards - Cowboys history and this week's matchup:

http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/11788472/flem-file-arizona-cardinals-dallas-cowboys-tale-tape
It doesn't happen very often in the corporatized and indemnified No Fun League, but the last time I saw NFL fans actually storm a field and tear down the goalposts was Sept. 7, 1997, in Tempe, Arizona. Looking back now, I wonder if that was the classic Hollywood body swap, "changeup" moment; the one that forever altered the course of these two franchises and, 17 seasons later, brought us to Sunday's duel for NFC supremacy.

I will never hate a team as much as I hate the eagles. My brother is a Cowboy fan so I never really developed that hatred. Anger, and distaste for, yes, but that was more a result of getting smacked by the Boys twice a year.

Similar story here. I try not to hate the Eagles too much because so many people I love are fans, but it's really, REALLY hard. The Cowboys don't tick me off as much since my sister is a fan and she took a TON of abuse while living back east. And, yes, she deserved some of it, but a lot of it was just drunk jerks being buttholes. (Hard to believe with Eagles fans, I know!)

Totally remember that call. Still have the Sports Illustrated pic that shows four photos of Moore being held by Kevin "PI" Smith in the end zone.

The Cowboys fans here in the Valley are obnoxious as all get out. They come into the parking lot full speed honking their horns and flying those stupid star flags from their beat-up pickup trucks. I have taken more abuse in U of P stadium than I have in the old Dallas stadium during a Cards-Cowboys game.

I don't know about the people at the game that day but I remember watching that game at home and I remember many of the cowboys players commenting about the fans after that game. Everyone in Dallas knew that it was a bad no call and Kevin smith was finally targeted by the refs for his illegal arm bar move unfortunately for the cards after that game but the bad no call finally put him under the spotlight because he could not cover people legally. Clearly that was the year the cards finally broke out of Dallas' shadow for good. Today and since then the cards have played better overall and should have won a Super Bowl.

It was kevin smith???
