Think about it. If the Cards end up selecting Bettcher and then try to convince us that he was their choice all along; don’t believe them. You should also be insulted. If after the first set of interviews he stood out, why feel compelled to have the other candidates come in to tour the facilities. Is someone going to say such great things about the facilities that they move ahead of Bettcher? Surely Bettcher was familiar with the facilities. Are they saying they didn’t ask good enough questions to pick the best candidate? They may have wanted to take some time to go over the answers, but they should quickly have known if Bettcher was the best guy. I would think with his lack of experience he would have to have been much the best candidate.

they say they want chemistry...a connection. If they had that with Betch they knew it before BA left... if they had that with Betch they could have satisfied the rooney rule in house.. if they had that with Betch there was no need to go through a charade of an interview process.

They know exactly what they have in regards to James Bettcher and their actions indicate they have already decided he is insufficient.

Credibility is already lost. All we can hope is that Keim finally pushes the chips to the table and gets us a legit QB and we regain our credibility through wins!

This is somewhat true. we dont even have credibility with fans... nobody even bothers to hate the Cardinals.

Pats have haters, cowboys have haters, as do the Pack, the Hags, the Niners, the Rams, the Bears, the Panthers...yada yada yada..

but the simple truth is, nobody bothers to hate the Cardinals more than Cardinal fans.

The Cardinals aint even a player in most peoples minds, so how can they have any cred?

Anyone they hire from here on knows it's their 3rd or 4th choice (Shurmur #1, Munchak #2). If it's Bettcher it is likely their #5th choice. Oh boy we are entering Suns territory.

I mean, this is basically what happened when Bettcher got promoted to DC.

The Cards should do their due diligence on the options available to them. If the Cards end up selecting Bettcher, why couldn't they say, "We loved Jim as a DC, but we wanted to make sure he was the best head coach for us. We talked to a broad group of coaches, and we're happy to say that we've found a great leader going forward."

Really? So interviewing and doing due diligence is a negative? Yeah, ok.

According to many on here, there is no possible way that can happen, although it makes a lot of sense.

It is early, but yes, if Bettcher ends up being the hire, it is all spin. It comes down to being passed up by all of the other candidates vs actually getting who we wanted.

No. Not at all.

However,... if they felt like they had the next poo hot young coach already under contract...well, it just makes perfect sense that they would hire him without going through all the song and dance....if Betch had everything they want in a coach...then why look for someone who has more?

It is impossible to comprehend that not one assistant or position coach was hired by other NFL team from this staff after BA left. Just mind blowing

What I will saw in regards to this entire process is that if you don't know the people to hire on other staffs, you are doing your organization a disservice. It is the GMs job to know who the quality people in this league are, and pounce on them as soon as they come available.

That is a great spin. I imagine some people will even buy it.

lol..yeah.///or... how about...

"..after interviewing with several of the top available candidates...we confirmed what we already believed,...and that is that we already have the best available candidate in house in Coach James Bettcher"...

Gotta love the art of using language to blow smoke right up somebodys ass....

I mean how horrible we had to settle for Betch ...Pag and McCoy. I mean there was so many position coordinators and the ultimate prize King Shurmer out there. Btw I'm a huge McCoy guy.

In my opinion that would be a total buzz kill for the players and the fans. Bettcher's defenses choked left and right. They couldn't stop anyone coming out of the tunnel at half-time (what does that suggest about half-time adjustments?), and two of his star players Peterson and Mathieu tried to play in tuxedos (w/o any fear whatsoever of reprisal). Take a way the SF games and the NYG game and that defense gave up close to 30 points per game.

Mike McCoy? He's the one who is going to groom the QBOF? Really?

Pagano I like. But 1 out 3 does not cut it.

Honestly...I could see that group working. What bothers me is that Pagano used to be betchs boss...and sometimes people have issues taking orders from a guy that used to pick up his dry cleaning....we may end up with Pagano coaching the team through James Bettcher.....
also,... BA will be up the guys ass regular... I am all for Mentoring... but the combination of BA and Pagano may be too much to allow Bettcher to develop into his own head coach, his own man... "owning" the position as it were.
Too many chiefs, not enough Indians..

The bright side is, Paganos experience can help Betch develop into the job... it also my help him as far as authority and the Gravitas thing,....

While I have bitched about the guy a lot I dont hate him... he kinda reminds me of a young andy reid

I was all for BMC when the thread first appeared. I really liked Munch but yeah.
After all this I think it's gonna happen.

How about

DeFilippo
Knapp or Bevell
Pagano
I dont really like Bevell... pretty sure any young QB we drafted would have his legs snapped in short order...unless he has magic fairy dust in his ass... NFL Dlinemen are hard to escape,..linebackers even harder......Lamar Jackson is likely the only QB in the draft with that level of escapability... but he dont throw so good.

Greg Knapp might be an option. He is a WCO guy which would benefit a young QB quite a bit

If we end up with Bettcher, that will freaking suck.
if they follow up the hire with a good FA period and a rock solid draft it will suck less. I mean hell, we've all left the bar with a chubby chick before...it aint the end of the world
