CARDS CZAR 1st MOCK for 2013 (Subject to change).

AZ sends their 7th rounder to the Vikings to complete the trade for A.J.
Jefferson. The Vikings send both of their 2013 6th Rounder’s.

AZ Trades #7 to S.D. for #11 & 76 &107.

1-11 - Chance Warmack, OG, Alabama, 6’3, 320, To me he is the best OG that I have seen in a long long time. Perfect plug in play player. Would start from day 1.

2-38 – Tyler Wilson, QB, Arkansas, 6-2, 215, Good QB for Arians to mold into his QB. Tough will play with pain. With a good QB Coach, he could be a very good starter in the future.

3-69 – Stedman Bailey, WR, W. Virginia,5’10 195,. Bailey is a balanced athlete with quick feet in/out of his breaks and the agility in the open field to make defenders miss. He is a smart route-runner and knows how to bait defenders and attract defensive pass interference penalties. Bailey shows excellent patience and burst in his routes with good stop-and-go motions to release at the line of scrimmage and gain a step or work back to the ball. He does a nice job gaining inside position and uses his body well, doing a nice job catching the ball in stride.

3-76 –Jamie Collins, OLB, Southern Miss, 6’3 245, Muscular, athletic-looking frame with powerful hands and long arms. Accelerates well in a straight line, and exhibits good flexibility, both coming off the edge as a rusher, as well as when changing direction in space. Is able to get to the quarterback off the edge, with impressive natural power on contact, and ability to disengage when he uses his hands effectively. Flashes a strong, sudden closing burst in space. Appears natural and comfortable in his lower half when asked to drop into zone coverage

4- 102- Gavin Escobar, TE, S.D. State, 6’5 255, Escobar possesses prototypical length and has good muscle tone. Has large soft hands. Escobar is a good athlete, showing good agility and leaping ability. Runs good routs but could refine them better.Able to stretch defenses over the middle and a nightmare matchup for safeties and linebackers.

4-107- Brennan Williams, OT, North Carolina, 6’7 315, Very Good tackle that tore his labium and had surgery in December. Should be ready by June. Good bloodline and/could be a good back-up at both tackle spots.

5- 142 – Kenjon Barner, RB, Oregon, 5’10, 188, Fast runner with soft hands out of the backfield. Shifty runner with start-stop-go ability to shake defenders. Very fast straight line speed. Could be our 3rd down back

6- 178 – Greg Blair, ILB, Cincinnati, 6’1.5 256, Sleeper pick for me. As a SILB he can really lay the wood. Good form tackler and stuffs the run. Had 6PBU and 2 Int in 2012.

6- 182 – David Bass, DE, Missouri Western St, 6’5 275, Let John Lott do his magic on him and he could be a perfect back-up to DD. Kid runs a 4.7 40

6- 194 – Copper Taylor, SS, Richmond, 6-4, 229, Taylor is an aggressive safety who isn't afraid to land the big hit while also making sure to wrap up the ball carrier. Good instincts and football awareness. He makes quick decisions in coverage, picking up the back or tight end and closing in on them with surprising speed for his size. Hmmm reminds me of somebody. A young Adub

can't see us taking a WR in the first 3 rounds. Bailey has to play the outside and he's not going to overtake Fitz and Floyd so now we just wasted our 3rd round pick on a 4th WR. I believe you have to draft a corner or pass rusher there.

This. Don't see much difference between Bailey and Roberts.

I would rather see that pick addressed towards a RB with starting potential.

You might be right. It was late in the night and I was thinking of a DE or WR in that spot. I might change it.

Love that mock. I would welcome a drop to 11 I think Warmack would still be there.

This was a great read, Czar---very well conceived and researched. You get an A from me...especially love the Jamie Collins & Gavin Escobar picks. Escobar, imo, won't get past the Patriots in Round 2, however...esp. with the concerns about Gronk's durability and the obsession BB has with TEs.

I will throw a RB name into the hat for that spot in the draft---Joseph Randle, Oklahoma St. Has a nice package of skills.

Barner is a good choice as a 3rd down RB---but, it would be surprising if he isn't taken by the middle of Round 4. Chip Kelly will snag him in the 4th if he's still on the board, imo.

You might be right. I was having a hard time with the 3-5 picks, I bet we do indeed take a TE, OLB,RB and OT in those picks. Will do more research and re-post an update.

Good job, nice to read different opinions.

My personal take given this scenario...

1-Chance Warmack - OG - Alabama
2-Barrett Jones - C - Alabama
3a-Jordan Poyer - CB - Oregon St.
3b-Cornellius Carradine - DE - Florida St.
4a-Dion Sims - TE - Michigan St.
4b-Marquise Goodwin - WR - Texas
5-Keith Pough - LB - Howard
6a-Tyrann Mathieu - CB - LSU
6b-Quanterus Smith - OLB - Western Michigan
6c-Michael Williams - TE - Alabama
7-John Boyett - S - Oregon

Adds two interior linemen, both more physical than what we have. Adds two instinctive CBs, two physical TEs, two pass rushers (one traditional D, one rash OLB/DE hybrid) and a deep threat WR.

Pough is a good LB that showed up at the Senior bowl. Q. Smith is going to go higher then a 6th pick.

I am going to revamp my mock so bare with me in a day or so.

I'm still a Wilson supporter Chopper :) but Warmack (an attitude and anchor for the line) and Goodwin (speed speed and more speed to give a added dimesion opposed to our current WRs who approach the game with the same, Fitz and Floyd, skill set) are the two players I want the most along with Bray (seems to be the Arians type player for the position which could be there later) at QB given when the players might be available to us

I hope we don't even consider taking a WR. Too many other areas to shore up when we are okay at WR. If everyone believes Floyd is going to be something then why would we take a WR in the draft at all when we have Fitz, Roberts, and Floyd? If you want to add another WR do it in FA. Many here are also high on Byrd so why a WR in the draft? To me its a wasted pick.

If we can get a speedy guy with return skills in the 5th or 6th round that would be ok. Steve Breaston was a 5th round pick.

Agreed. We still need someone that has the speed to blow the lid off the opposing defense. Andre Roberts is the closest thing we have to that and he isn't all that explosive.
