I dont have the energy to be excited or discouraged by this move. Does it matter?

And to those flipping out about a 6th round pick,,,, seriously? We cant pick anyone good in the first round why dont we address that issue before we start worrying about wasted 6th rounders... ;(

No one will move the needle on this team. That's the point.

so we shouldn't do anything?

Keim has routinely churned the bottom 3 talented players on the roster. You could argue that's exactly what we did. It's just that in this case, the players involved were once important faces in the league.

However, if instead we just traded a conditional 6th round pick for some unknown 3rd string OG that no one had ever heard of, for Rudy Ford... we aren't having this conversation on page 19 of this thread.

Go Cards!!!

just curious, but what can we do at this point in the season that will move the needle? Who should we have brought in?

no one.

They could have had the needle fly off the damn dial by doing ANY (perferably all) of the following

1. fire Amos Jones
2. demote/fire Bettcher and hire an actual Defensive Coordinator
3. fire Goodwin (or whoever is responsible for coaching the O-line)

The needle'd fly so far you wouldn't know where it went.
Signing AP is the next best thing to a joke.

So you want to introduce so much chaos into the organization by firing both coordinators 5 games into the season they can't get anything done. Two positions that there is NO way you could get anyone remotely qualified to replace them 5 weeks into the season.

Look, I'm pissed at what this season's become to the point I didn't even tune in last week. I still trust BA and Keim enough to grant them some leeway on trying to turn it around somewhat. Maybe they can't. Either way, I've been a fan of this organization long enough to know that there are repercussions to knee jerk reactions every time the performances on the field goes south.

Just my view.

Go Cards!!!

They are not going to torch the roster or coaching staff at this point. When they are mathematically eliminated, maybe. The first coach to go will be Arians. It is clear he won't fire his coaches. Could end up being his biggest flaw.

I see it as at least they are trying. And, it does not cost them much at all. So .... fling it up there and see if it sticks.

So, for the "at least we did something crowd", should we bring in Steve Hutchinson? Mark Schlereth? Sign Nick Mangold... Let's add Terrell Owens to help out the WR position. Trade for Antonio Gates. They all have a similar likelihood of success to adding an old RB who can't catch and can't pass block.

Here is some perspective...New Orleans has a very good offensive line. Much better than ours. With an entire offseason to prep, Adrian Peterson could not wrestle away a significant snap% from Mark Ingram and Alvin Kamara. I'm sure that some of you will say that it was because they throw the ball so much. Well, team passing play %'s are as follows...

New Orleans passes the ball 62.65% of the time.

Arizona passes the ball 71.10% of the time.

So, Arizona just spent a draft pick on a player who has zero value in 7 out of every 10 of their offensive plays. Even if they increased their rushing play% by 10% (which is a huge margin), the traded for a RB who has zero value on 6 out of every 10 of their offensive plays.

This is a stupid move by the front office with little to no upside by scheme and design. That isn't even factoring in Peterson's age.

Yes, I do. I would loose the raging fires of anarchy on this organization. And when the smoke cleared, EVERYONE (including players like PP21) would know there is no safety anywhere, if a player, you play your guts out every single second or you may be gone, no matter who you are. If a coach, you better show SOME improvement, or you are gone.

The statement "there is NO way you could get anyone remotely qualified to replace them 5 weeks into the season." is sort of NOT an issue, because we don't have ANYONE remotely qualified right now. So burn it down, send a big, big message to everyone there, your best or you are out, no matter who you are.

In other words, the FO should’ve been content with being the 32nd ranked running team in the league and done nothing?

IMO, this is a huge overreaction. It just isn't that big of a deal. He can painlessly be cut if worse comes to worse. How many great players with a big future ahead of them will get traded in the NFL by the deadline? Answer = NONE This isn't baseball or hockey or basketball where gaining a player or losing a player can make a huge amount of difference. All he really has to do is be better than CJ.

Seems a majority of the people saying this are the same ones that were saying CJ2K had to be better than Ellington. We need to re sign him and everything would be fine with him toting the rock and he wasn't washed up yet etcetera etcetera

Based on what? Seattle's offense has been awful(coincidentally 2 of their wins are against the Colts and Niners) and the Rams still have Goff under center and a very shaky defense. Neither team scares me. It's a bad division and the Cards have as good a shot as those two.
Wrong. That's all I have to add. Just wrong.

It's not a bad take. They've had three game in which their offense has looked stale; and without their vaunted defense and special teams, would've likely lost those games.

Seattle does look better than AZ for sure, but they're far from a team poised to run away with the division, let alone threaten the rest of the conference.
Just poised to run away from US, which is all that matters. When is it going to sink in for some of you . . . we suck.

Really? You're going to limit your comparisons to AP to players that haven't been in the league in, what, a decade?

Yes, I'm glad they are trying to find anything that will stick. No, I don't think Peterson will solve any of our problems. If anything, he may even make it worse as at least CJ had some shot at slowing down a blitzer occasionally.

The point is that the nattering naybobs of negativity in here are all up in arms over one poor performer being replaced by what most of us recognize is another likely poor performer. Difference being is that I applaud them for at least trying rather than Rod Graves, "this is the team we started with.. it'll be the team we finish with" approach.

this. I'm for it. Gotta do SOMETHING. We are one game out of first place. he was the best available. Once DJ and Logan come back, if he sucks, we are set anyway.
