Per Jason Laconfora the Cards are interested in Floyd to possibly replace Breaston.

I thought Graves was a snail? So far he's traded for and extended what we believe to be our QBOF, signed a starting LG, signed a TE who can start, signed UDFAs (who cares) and potentially other unannounced deals, additionally we've reportedly spoken to the top FA (Asomaugha), and now a starting WR. We'll see if he can close any deals, but we have to spend the money and there are lots of teams that simply don't have money to spend so you can be sure we aren't done yet.

I would fully support this. Floyd has some injury concerns, but he's a solid (and fast) receiver.

6'5" and can stretch the field. Just send Fitz and Floyd in the corner of the endzone and let them out jump everyone else.

I think there is a thread on Asomugha with everyone just wishing and hoping it might have the slim chance of becoming reality.

He got taken to the woodshed in the QB trade. Even if Kolb turns out to be a pro bowler 5 times over, there was no way he was worth at the time, what we gave up to secure him. That's like saying this stock was worth paying 300 percent too much, 20 years later when inflation has pushed everything up by a thousand percent, and saying you did well.

A blocking TE that I like, but still, any GM can do this, and after all these years he finally pulls this small morsel out doesn't sway me much overall. So yeah, been waiting a few years for a signing like this. That would be snails pace.

With the bending over he did for the Eagles, he better sign most/all of the names thrown out here, and he'll get back to even. Possible plus territory if we land Aso.

But losing Breaston (for 9.5 million over 5?), 2nd round pick, DRC, and possibly Lutui, and LS isn't offset by getting a couple of small upgrades. We need net gains here, and with all of this lost, the additions need to be significant just to break even. Right now most of it is flowing outwards, not inwards. Plus much of this is still just rumors.

Right now (and it is early) Graves still looks like an Aso. But with the cap room to redeem...that at least this year, he must spend a certain level, but hopefully he doesn't front load a lot of stuff.

If we're giving up on Breaston, we have to get Floyd or Jones. Even then AFTER one of those, I might look at getting another cheaper one too. Or better yet, offer 10 even for Breaston and still sign Floyd or Jones.

edit: see now the breaston's deal was 9.5 guaranteed, so that does change things a bit, but too busy to go through post and alter overall thought.

If we get Malcolm or Jones we don't need to add another cheap WR. We still have Doucet, Williams, Roberts and Komar. One and likely 2 of those will make big strides this year so long as Kolb puts out a solid performance.

Good on you!

The ability to see 6 years into the future is an extremely rare thing; some would say impossible but, obviously, your comfortable with your prognostications.

Thanks for the insight.

um. if Kolb's a 5 time Pro Bowler it's pure insanity to say he's not worth this contract... even at the time he signed it. you ALWAYS view contracts with hindsight. if they're proven right... they're right.
