Maybe it was a condition for getting the job, but both Monti and JG have been emphatic that Kyler is their guy.
i am sure there was a GM candidate or two who advised Mike to move on from K1
Like it or not the salary cap continues to restrain many decisions. If there was a mistake made it was giving this giant contract to Murray on the speculation he would become a star rather than forcing him to prove it. Now dooming the Cards to being non-competitive for several years seems like a worse decision than seeing if they could ride out those years with at least a moderately competitive team. After 2025 it becomes practical to make a change without selling off several future years. I’ve previously written that under the financial realities of the NFL anyone interviewing had to endorse Murray to get a shot. Murray, himself, has now gotten that shot and 2025 is put up or shut up time. I know patience is challenging, but I’d urge postponing these demands for action for one more season to make the financial transition practical. With a solid offseason this year and next, the Cards could offer a roster in 2026 that could be structured to contend with the addition of a veteran QB; letting Murray move on to another hopeful suitor.
