Cardinals are letting every opportunity to pass them up with the hopes of getting Butler.

Singletary gone....Ryan gone....and more hires off the board.

I hope the new CBA has some statement about coaches movements having to wait until one day after the super bowl. I don't think it's cool that we are having to wait and see with Butler while watching these other coaches get hired I know these coaches have the right to be hired now, but the play field isn't fair in this aspect for all teams.

Cards are taking a risk in waiting for Butler...I hope they have things lined up and not 'HOPING' (with fingers crossed) that everything works out.

Obviously Whis golfs with Butler and they've had "the" conversation. Question is can they get past the 'clause'...and I don't mean Santa.

As a fan I'm cautiously optimistic....

this is how things normally work out for Cards fans ----->:mulli:

If Butler is who Whis is waiting for and he isn't able to sign with us, Whis has dug his own grave. This would be another really dumb mistake.

If Ray Rice doesn't fumble and change the game, Butler is probably hired already. The lack of urgency tells me they know something or at least he's the clear cut #1 choice and they will wait him out. Too bad it looks like it may be February until they can hire him.

what clause in his contract? That was a bunch of "mays" and "mights".

Where did Singletary go?
It appears Mike Singletary is close to joining the Vikings coaching staff. A league source said it "looks good" that Singletary will become linebackers coach on Leslie Frazier's staff.

NFL.com also reported Sunday night that the Vikings are expected to reach a deal with the former San Francisco 49ers coach. The Carolina Panthers also are reportedly interested in hiring Singletary as linebackers coach.

Singletary's decision to join Frazier's staff would not be surprising. The two were roommates as rookies with the Chicago Bears in 1981 and have remained close friends.

With Singletary in charge of linebackers, Fred Pagac is expected to remain as defensive coordinator. He took over that role when Frazier was elevated to interim head coach.

Who the hell would want Singletary as their DC anyway? Using him as an example of the Cards making a mistake is truly funny!

I'm surprised we actually have a basket to hold eggs at this point.

If waiting on Butler meant not getting Singletary as a DC, then it was well worth it.

Do you think that even if the Cardinals are able to talk to Butler, that he would honestly give up the security he has now in Pittsburgh?

Do you think his attitude might just be, no sense going to a team where the coach may be fired after one season?

I personally would love it if the Cardinals do sign him, but I also would hate to wait for him forever, and having Butler not sign with us.

Guess we will all have to wait and see how this plays out.

Michael Lombardi on the NFL Network suggests that "Mora" may be in AZ mix.

It's also quite possible we are waiting on multiple candidates who are still in the playoffs...
