Anybody else more comfortable with Skelton in there than Kolb?

That throw to Roberts on 3rd down was a thing of beauty. Stepped up at the right time and drilled it in there.

Further Roberts looks much better out there with Skelton than at any time with Kolb this season.

It's early, but we'll see how the 2nd half unfolds.

Some other observations:

The line once again let someone through it unblocked (Quinn). Something is wrong with the coaching if it's happening this often.

Again we'll see about adjustments the staff makes in the 2nd half.

Also Beannies injuries are killing this offense this year. He can't be depended on.

Why isn't Housler playing more? The Rams have a rookie, Salas who is in there the majority of the time. We spent a fairly high draft pick on Housler, for what!?

It'll never come to pass this season that Kolb gets benched for Skelton, but I agree. I HATE the way Kolb moves away from the LOS; I think it negates any positive qualities he might bring to the table.

Housler's hurt.

Not sure what you're saying about Beanie. Would the cards be better off with a less talented Rb who is 100% every week?

Housler is inactive today due to injury.

edit: when I started to write this, no one had responded yet. By the time I hit enter, looks like people beat me to it. Didn't want you to think I am piling on :)

yea Skelton is better than Kolb or at least equal with upside, Butr it might be that the coaches let him play more fundementally sound than Kolb.

Beanie is hurt, if he was busting some runs Skelton would be even better. But i question if the team is still playing hard? looks like they quit considering it is a divisional game.

I'm fully convinced the Cardinals need to draft a QB in this draft with their first pick.

No, but I am saying his undependability has killed this offense this season. He can't be relied on to carry any kind of load for this team. He's proven that in his stay here thus far.

respectfully

Respectfully his skills and size are about twice as good as Kolb's. Great or not.

I said it all day in the gameday thread.

Kolb has played some of the toughest pass rushes in the NFL in the first 6 weeks. Skelton had the Rams at home.

If Skelton walks into Philly and stays composed..... THEN and only then can he be considered to be the starter.

Right now.... Hes the guy that gave up two straight safeties to the 1-7 Rams. And got saved by Special Teams.

Not only did Skelton not have a bad day passing but he was the teams leading rusher :). He has a lot of room for improvement but sitting on the bench is not going to help him improve in my opinion.

To answer your question "YES". I didnt want KK and wished we would have just stood pat let JS mature and keep our picks and DRC. You could even trade DRC if you want to attain more picks. Still not sure who got the best of that trade yet, DRC isnt playing much and who knows who the pick will be.

You can repeat it as many times as you want. Kolb runs when he doesnt need to, only runs backwards (waaaay backwards) and never steps up into the pocket when it's there.

There is no comparison between Skelton pocket awareness and footwork and Kolbs.

To me it's in the eyes. Skelton doesn't look scared. Looks like he wants to win. Kolb is a terrified mess.

At least one of those safeties is on whiz. Personally, I think they both are about 80% play calling. You have an inexperienced qb and you're in the shadow of your own goalposts? Run or at least call a three-step drop and a quick quick pass.

C'mon, now. St. Louis's pass rush is pretty solid--it's their run game and toothless offense that has them at 1-7. Kolb had the benefit of an effective Beanie Wells for most of his starts. Skelton had Beanie getting 10 carries for 20 yards.

Skelton had one good game against the 1-7 Rams. Kolb had one good game against the 2-6 Carolina Panthers. Both were at home.

I still think that Kevin Kolb gives us the best chance to win on a week by week basis, but Kolb wouldn't have made this game any less interesting than Skelton did.

I don't think there are any in the playbook.

It's the Lambs. Even Derek Anderson played well against the Lambs last season.

I am not ready to declare Skelton our next QB but I am ready to say he is more fundamentally sound than Kolb. He is a true pocket QB and knows the meaning of stepping up and into the pocket. He has a very strong arm and he made a couple of really good passes. The TD to Fitz was a perfect throw. Kolb is suppose to have a little speed but in one game Skelton out gained him on two plays. If Skelton had a running game he would have looked much better. Beenie does not seem to hit the hole hard when we need 1-2 yards. He always seems to dance a little when we need him to hit the middle like a truck. I would start Skelton next week but if Kolb is sound I doubt it would happen. Peterson is improving each week but our DB on the other side continues to be picked on as he is a very weak link.

After that defensive stand at the the end we just had to win that game as the defense came to play. Campbell once again is a hero and has been my choice right from the start as a co-most important lineman on this team. He is a future pro bowler. So we do not get Andrew Luck there are a couple of other real good looking QBs emerging this year. To bad we gave up our second choice for Kolb who we will likely waste the rest of the year on.

Peterson is the real deal he only needs to overcome some of his rookie defensive mistakes. He is probably one of the top two return guys in the NFL. That guy from Chicago being the other.

Most valuable player in my mind: Campbell
Most spectacular play: Peterson
The defense wins this game. We should have lost before Peterson even had a chance in overtime. Skelton certainly showed he is still in the hunt to be a QB as he has the skills that Kolb has not yet shown like stepping forward rather than backwards. The safety was a big mistake which I hope he learned from. He sure impressed me when he recognized he had some openings and ran the ball. On several occasions Kolb had a chance to run and make some yardage but chose to throw the ball into tight coverage.

Maybe in the box score. On the field Anderson was horrific in that game. We needed Breaston to strip a guy returning a fumble for a possible TD in order to win that one. Anderson airmailed a wide open Larry several times, couldnt come within 10 yards of hitting guys who were 10 yards away.

Anderson never -- not even in the Rams game -- had any touch on the ball. Skelton zipped it when he needed to and put touch on it when he needed to. He's still got a lot of work to do, but he's already better than anderson.

I really liked what I saw in Skelton. Again he has no time but doesn't looked scared like Kolb. I think he has a better upside. We need to extend Cambell asap.
