Despite rumors, Boldin likely staying

The Cardinals' decision to listen to trade offers for Anquan Boldin has produced far more rumors than serious inquiries, and it appears the Pro Bowl receiver will remain with the team beyond this draft weekend.

It takes only one phone call to change that, of course, but the Cardinals aren't expecting it to come. The first serious offer came Thursday, and the Cardinals quickly rejected it.

"It didn't come close to being something we would consider," said General Manager Rod Graves, who declined to name the team or detail the offer. "We've had no other interest expressed."

Shut up.. Your sarcasim is not appriciated...
Not "sarcasim." I'm really upset that nobody wants to give up more than a second round selection for one of the best WRs in the game. At this rate keep him just based on the fact that he's going to be on a mission next year. :mulli:

There is another side to the coin. The lack of good offers should be a wake up call to Q and his advisers that maybe he is not worth as much as they thought and that they should pay more attention to what the Cardinals are prepared to offer - again.

Once again negative. Cards arent going to give him up unless they get their socks knocked off with an offer. It does not correlate to what Q should be paid at all.

They are but how many can afford him, right now?

On top of that give up good young cheap labor (players) :).

If someone wants to make a run at him, they're going to have to step up.

He's a legit #1 go to guy. The league can't guard both him and Fitz and deal with three other guys. Can't be done. If that's going to get broken up they need to throw some kind of real incentive to make it happen. Otherwise we're status quo. It's going to be a REAL interesting camp, mtl.

If Q can remain totaly professional through another camp and season, he'll have earned everything he deserves. A year early. Like Wilson.

True, Boldin and Fitz deserve so much money combined that it threatens to distort the salary structure for the rest of the Cardinal roster. Throw in Warner and you wonder how we can afford Wilson, Dansby or Dockett.

But the sad (but real) fact is that the contract that Q signed will remain in effect for 2 more years and therefore, the Cardinal salary structure can stay undistorted if Q's deal isn't restructured.

I think Boldin is caught between the proverbial $8 - 10 million dollar other teams' rock and the Cardinals' hard place. No one wants to pay that much, and the Cards can't afford to.

I see 2 ways around this: (1) Boldin and the Cards endure one another and the status quo for the next 2 years or better yet (2) the Cards and Boldin work out an interim contract that gives Q more immediate money but doesn't totally shatter the Cardinals' budget or cap space.

I think this has everything to do with the Cards finding Q's worth.. They can now negociate saying that another team wont give up what a star that Q thinks he's worth.. Or Drew at least.. I believe it has everything to do with it..

Great call by the Cards pulling this card..

at a minimum -- in the negotiations, they can say that they entertained offers for Q -i.e "you asked to be traded, we entertained offers to trade you, but didnt get any worthwhile offers"

My previous comments weren't to be a knock on Q, but I would expect Breaston to fill the role of #2 WR quite nicely as well. As I've stated many times, you never really know what you are getting with any draft pick, but we know we have an excellent WR in Q. That's why I'm so upset to hear that the Cardinals aren't even getting nibbles for Q. Looks like he'll have something to prove to the other teams in the league next year. GOOD DEAL! ;)

Maybe Q will have a little less frustration because it was obvious the cardinals tried very hard to move him, and couldn't get it done. With one of the main reasons being teams having a hangup about paying him 9 to 10 million. Maybe he won't feel so unappreciated now taking 7 million.

Obviously that's wishful thinking.

Boldin is a top five WR but his physical style of play and it leading him into getting dinged up during the year factors in. From a football standpoint, staying with the Cardinals with Fitz onboard will continue producing ridicalous stats for him and Pro-Bowls and a shot at the Hall of Fame which would hardly be as easy with another team, and yes some more shots at the Superbowl in my opinion...not that Q could not do it with another team but it would be a more difficult task with another team with him being the clear number 1. I like Q...ok I almost worship the guy out on the field LOL, and I'm happy the guy likely will be in Cardinal red this season.

I thought that if Q gets traded it would be on draft day and I still do. That's when teams are much more likely ti hit the panic button.

Once Crabtree and Maclin are off the board, hopefully early, teams will realize that a Hakeem Nicks or Darius Heyward-Bey are not Anquan Boldin and that may lead to some offers, we'll see.

If not keep him, here is my final no trade mock:

1. RB Donald Brown - Wells & Moreno will be gone, so will Larry English, IMO, no alot of wear on his legs. Can catch and run, just needs to work on blocking.

2. DE Lawrence Sidberry - Would go for Sintim but he will probably be gone, very fast as he was a member of the track team.

3. OLB Cody Brown - Gives us the 2nd pass rusher we need, we get both UCONN stars.

4. C Antoine Caldwell - Will take over for Sendlein in a couple of years.

5. TE Anthony Hill - Blocking TE we've been looking for.

6. OG Andy Kemp - Interior line depth.

7. DT Marlon Favorite - DL rotation guy

7. OT Reggie Youngblood - OT that after a couple of years will be able to contribute after Grimm works his magic.

I'd be pleased with this draft but I don't see Sidbury lasting until 63. If he fell I'd be ecstatic. I think we do need 2 OLB and LS Jr and Cody Brown would be nice.

I'd like us to grab an ILB like Scott McKillop or Jasper Brinkley at some point.

Also, keep an eye open for us drafting a couple late round players like Everette Pendescleaux and DeAndre Levy.

Would you trade Boldin and our 1st for the Broncos' 2 1sts and Tony Scheffler?
