Go Suns
I like the signing. If anything, he's a good veteran presence in the locker room. He might contribute a bit here or there. Hopefully we won't be relying on him in any major way this year.
It's not as if the Cards want him to be Beanie's backup (do they)? Or replace LSH as our passing down specialist (do they)?
He does have a wealth of experience and creds as a receiver and pass blocker, and if all he does is provide veteran depth ballast, it figures to be a good thing. But not at the expense of demoting or losing A. Smith & his inside running ability. (We should carry 4 RB's plus Sherman).[/QUOTE]
We're not going to be dressing 5 on game day, and Smith can still go to the PS. If you keep them all, who do you cut? This has a domino effect.
Experience isn't where this team is lacking. We were the second oldest team in the league before signing Taylor. Talent, however, is a different story. Tyrell Sutton and Chris Ogbonnaya are still available and have much more to offer physically than Taylor. I would have rather signed either of them over Chester. He does have a wealth of experience

i would have really liked to see us take a flyer on Portis instead of Taylor's bag of bones.
Portis is an overweight fat tub of lard himself that showed up to his Pats workout over 20lbs over weight.![]()
and probably still more effective than Taylor.
UGGGGGGGGGGGGGH
Horrible signing, even for a depth signing. I know Whisenhunt is in love with runningbacks with good fundamentals, but I was hoping we would sign someone who could actually run with the football. Taylor offers nothing as a runner anymore.

Such as???
Sutton or any one of the rookie free agent runningbacks.
Literally 30+ runningbacks were just released. Don't tell me that Chester Taylor is a better runner than all of those guys. He might be a better receiver/blocker, but as a runner Chester Taylor is horrible. We're talking William Powell bad.

Krang,
And thank you for your service.
But it's not about a running back...we are still a pass first type of offense. Ryan Williams is the running back of the future, along with Wells.
This is a stop gap measure.....to help Kolb a bit.
Think of Taylor as a (albeit so sad) poor man's version of E. James.
We need to protect Kolb...first and foremost....he's a good answer IMHO.
Like who? Which of the 30 do you believe represents a better decision that Taylor?
I mean, I understand all this, but Taylor is just so awful now. I was just hoping we would have a savvy, scouts answer to the solution, some unheralded guy just cut off someones roster.
IMO Taylor is the easiest answer, but not the best one.
LOL did you read my post? I mentioned Sutton as one of the guys I would consider.
I don't get paid to watch the film on every team in the league like our scouts do. I would expect the team to know of at least one young UDFA that could fit the bill of what we're looking for.
Not trying to be a jerk Krang... you just said you don't get paid to watch film. Well, we have guys who do. And, along with Graves and Whiz, they concluded that Taylor is the guy that best fits what they are looking for.
Chris Ogbanaya, Tyrell Sutton, and the corpse of Brian Westbrook are all better than Chester "Molester" Taylor.
I hate this signing, I think it sucks, we'll leave it at that.![]()
Based on what?
IMO Taylor is the easiest answer, but not the best one.
