There sure is alot of angst over a guy who may get 50 carries this year. If he much more than that, the Cards are in trouble anyway. He's better than last year's #4, Wright. That's who we should be comparing him to.

So who is going to get Hightower's 150 carries?

Who knows maybe Chris will get them but no back in the last 3 years has had even 180 carries.

But it looks like the Cards are changing their MO in regard to Tight Ends maybe they plan to change the RB by committee as well. Could that be why they ran Powell 29 times?

Nah...just trying to waste time in the most ridiculous game of the year.

Running the ball shouldn't even be an aspect of the game anymore :) Just throw it every time, and Taylor will certainly be effective! ;)

MY guess:
Wells gets about 260 carries
LSH: 90 carries
Smith : 85 carries
Taylor 45-50 carries

There was a lot of competition for him once he was cut, so while I do not think he has anything in the tank at least other teams tried hard for him and we came out on top. Something that usually doesn't happen with free agents when we get into a competition.

One really never knows who has something left in the tank. Emmit Smith still had some yardage left in those old legs. Kurt Warner's arm was still good. Bart Starr seemed to never die. I look for McNabb to come back this year. He is my nominee for comeback player of the year.

Taylor will only be asked to do so much. Five to 6 touches a game and most of those will be receptions.

If we were bringing him in as our main RB our the main backup to Beanie, I would be aggravated. But he's not. He will come in (at times) on 3rd down to pick up a blitz or be a safety valve outlet.

The first time he picks up a blitz and saves Kolb from being decapitated, we will all be happy. Something a rookie probably wouldn't do.

He's our 3rd Down back.

So what if he only averaged 2.4 yards-per-carry last year? Just hand it to him on third-and-short, and he's golden. For 3rd-and-long, his pass protection will be critical.

I like the pickup. We didn't get him to eat yards, that'll be Beanie's job. We got Taylor to compliment the skill sets we already have at the RB position.

He's no Tim Hightower, but at least he had no fumbles in 112 carries last year, and just 2 fumbles in 94 attempts in 2009.

Slanidrac16 nailed it and then Totally Red made sure it would not come undone by putting in a screw...a capable third down back who will not fumble, that works for me
