Maybe SK prefers to have Foote on the field instead of Demens while DWash serves his suspension. Not a hard concept to grasp IMO.

This.

Pretty simple to figure out: we're extraordinarily thin at ILB at the moment and our best ILB is most likely out for 1-2 games. Probably had nothing to do with Minter, at all.

I guess people were expecting Patrick Willis to be available??

Depth move and likely spot starter filling in for injuries or suspensions.

I know the Cards putting all their eggs in one basket and then losing said basket in the 4th pre season game is fairly familiar to us all.

.

I don't see where anyone has complained about this signing.

Right? Even after a year of success and pretty much full faith in the front office, there's still a lot of battered-wives' syndrome where any discussion of front office moves are expected as criticism.

I have no problem with this move. It was interesting that Darren Urban hedged the signing by saying that Foote might not even make the final 53.

I haven't edited a post on this thread. Please point to where I complain in any way about this signing.

What you posted and what someone else read into your post are two different things. Forget about it. The thread will soon be lost in Internet Never-More Land in a few more minutes. At least someone is reading your posts and responding to them.

Even if Minter excelled as a rookie, foote still could have been signed?

Hope the signing of Foote doesn't mean the Cards are passing on Shazier or Mosely (if they are still around). Are they trading out of their pick? Or (please NO) are they going for a QB with pick #20 (I'm for reinforcing the D for a push to Win this year.)

starting to think we are trading down from #20 unless someone with very high skill drops to us. (Mack or Barr - possibly pryor/the CB guy)

Yup. That's my feeling, too. The Cards draft party at UofP could be really interesting if we trade out of the first round altogether.

I think that the Cards are going to look at their board when they come on the clock and see there are 10-12 guys that they like clumped together, and there will be teams with needs where there are players available that want to move up--maybe it's for a quarterback (but I doubt it); more likely it's going to be offensive line, cornerback, and wide receiver.

Cardinals are still +1 on compensatory eligibility because Larry Foote was released by the Steelers in March. Cardinals have lost 5 and signed 4. If nothing else changes, would be eligible for ONE compensatory draft pick in 2015.

:bhiich:

Doesn`t salary have something to do with how the comp picks are figured also ;signing 2 big dollars guys and losing 3 guys who get minimum does not mean you automatically get a comp pick. The league uses some sort of formula (league secret) to award comp picks.

If Bridgewater and Carr are still on the board, can't see why that wouldn't be enticing to some.

Yes salary and playing time. The guys the Cardinals lost: Dansby, Roberts, Dray got good deals. The two cornerbacks not so much.

Net-net, I think the Cardinals are ahead on that also. The only big dollar guy signed was Jared Veldheer. Ginn was a moderate deal. Larson and the Steeler running back were chump change.

I doubt it with Carr--I just don't see what others are projecting on him--and I doubt it with Bridgewater if these were the teams that didn't like him enough to draft him high in the first. It's possible, but I don't think that Carr is that superior a prospect to Zach Mettenberger or Aaron Murray or the other cast of characters who will be available late in round 2 and into round 3.

There is a lot of 'buzz' around Carr.

There was a lot of buzz around Geno Smith.

Listening to the ESPN First Draft podcast this morning, they don't believe that any of the quarterbacks are among the top 25 prospects.

True. But, I'm betting on a bit of a run at the end of the first round.

Avatar wager, then? How many QBs do you wager will be taken in the first round?

I think I have something out on avatar from the draft until training camp, but I'll wager my avatar through the preseason period against your avatar from the draft until training camp.

Yes. The two are mutually exclusive.

After Minter, who is still an unknown, it's Alexander (coming off foot surgery) and Demens. Doesn't exactly give me confidence at the position. This is going off the assumption that D-Wash will be suspended.

Foote is no world beater anymore, but at least he has some experience. At this point in free agency, anyone that is signed is going to be mediocre at best, and a depth signing.

Three.

Won't bet, though. Don't have an avatar.

I would guess three will be taken with the top # being 4. Cleveland is taking a first round QB. Someone is drafting Bortles in round 1. Someone is drafting Manziel in round 1. Someone will want to move ahead of either Houston, Jacksonville (rnd 2) or Cleveland (#26) to grab a QB.

My guess Bortles, Manziel and Carr go in round 1 with Bridgewater going round 2 ala, his brotha from anotha motha, Andy Dalton. (they are so similar to each other interms of skillset.)
