We improved in the most important aspect of the defense: coaching.

It's not necessarily the pieces you bring in, but the person putting those pieces together and devising the master plan.

Simply scrapping Davis and bringing in Horton was the most profound move we made so far in the offseason. I think with Horton's background, more animated personality and what I perceive as a more organized defensive scheme, we'll see more production.

Even if we don't sign anymore defensive players (even with the departure of DRC), I still think we improve leaps and bounds. I am confident in this.

Never thought of it that way. Horton is an unproven quantity too, but if he's good at what he does it'll really help. Can't imagine he could be worse than Bill D. You may be right.

Good points. Two things: with the amount of cap space we have, nobody should have been out of our financial plans unless we're looking for cheap solutions only.

Two, I hope I'm totally wrong about this, but from personal experience there is no such thing as being "over" concussions and I can't imagine that it won't be an issue for a guy who's thumping the middle to stop the running game.

But as you point out, any player could get a concussion I suppose.

Biggest problem is that you become more susceptible.

Probably setting myself up for disappointment, but I'm holding out hope there's at least one really huge surprise coming at 3:00 today that might explain things. Some really good guys out there like Jared Gaither that I haven't heard one peep about this week.

Yeah, that's what I'm getting at. I used to box, and over time it seems like it takes less and less to "ring the bell" if you know what I mean. That said, it's not like Bradley has had 1000 concussions so hopefully it won't be an issue. It's a red flag though.

Pretty much what my Co-worker the Eagles fan told me.

Very solid LB but has struggle to stay healthy.

When you look at it this way, it doesn't seem so bad...

Ed, I would like to see a proven edge rusher myself.....but consider this as well....adding Kolb, and King, and Colledge.....should keep our offense on the field longer too....which means the defense will not be playing totally gassed for three quarters of football.
It is an all around thing.........but, that edge rusher,well.....he sure would help our corners look better, lol.

You're right. Our defence was on the field an average of five minutes more per game in 2010. It was almost equal in 2009/08.

Big backer that many wanted. Comes in at 6'4" 258lbs. Brings some size to our ILB position. For some of those who wanted Tulloch, keep in mind he is 5'11" and 240, so it would have made our ILB position smaller which many didn't want.

I agree that the offense doing more than three-and-out will help the D. The lack of a proven pass rush or nickel corner right now is not good, though. We will have trouble stopping anyone that way.

Cardinals will agree to terms with LB Stewart Bradley, formerly of the Eagles.
Bradley was considered the middle linebacker of the Eagles' future after a solid 2008 campaign, but he blew out his knee and missed the entire 2009 season. He returned for 12 games last year, but was a shell of himself and lost his job to seventh-round rookie Jamar Chaney. In Arizona, Bradley will be a major upgrade on starting ILB Paris Lenon if he can get back to his 2008 form.

Don"'t think either/or. Think both.

We've lacked toughness inside for years. Bradley brings a tougher element to our defense.

My buddy who is a huge Cornhusker fan says this is a great move and that he will be our top linebacker next year assuming he is healthy.
