Old scouting reports pre draft say he was a very aggressive CB that worked in college but the fear was in the NFL, at his size, he'd be gambling and get beaten and bigger NFL Wr's would use his aggressiveness against him over power him and get the ball.

I honestly have never seen him play to my knowledge.

He was bad his rookie year. Slow feet. Slow brain. Never got chance to be aggressive because he was 5 yards off the play.

Will really depend on how he spent the last year. Was it playing Madden or getting coached?

Fairly athletic but has some key flaws. He’s better suited for slot coverage In man coverage. Not much of a ball hawk as he has poor hands. He is aggressive but doesn‘t have the size and strength to impose his will. He might fare better with the Cards because they like to play zone. He has some burst to the ball so he can use his reactive response in zone to break up passes. A skill the Cards lack. In that system he’s likely okay as the number 2 corner. So basically he and Murphy have similar capabilities, though they’re not the same athletes. Assuming Gladney is not suspended, he’d be an upgrade.

I imagine this move has been made with Gladney to slot in mind with Murphy moving outside full time.

I assume it is a cheap deal with game day roster bonuses in case he does get a short suspension. I like the signing as low risk with some upside.

I struggle to understand why he should be suspended
Being charged is a sin beside being found not guilty?

Cussing out an official isn't a legal crime either. The NFL is perfectly within its rights to set its own code of conduct.

But the thing you cite is within the game and the other is in a court and a not guilty verdict was given

Worth the roll of the dice.
That's where I'm at with it. Not much of a downside--depending on years and numbers--and there's plenty of upside. At worst, he's terrible and doesn't make our defense better, but if he pans out, it'll be a huge bonus. Decent move, based on those parameters. Now, if it's a stupid 1-year "Keim time" special....grr...

2 year deal is good. If he blows up in year 1, you restructure/extend next off-season, knowing that in 2024 cap increase and relief is coming.
He'd be RFA in third year with several options to retain.

its still early, but sure looks like Keim is working to max the comp pick formula

both the Kirk and Chandler contracts are 3rd round pick kinda contracts

only outside add so far .. Gladney .. doesnt count against it.

Zadarious Smith and Julio Jones wouldnt count against it either

Cards will only get a 5th round compensatory pick for Chandler Jones being as he is a 10 year verteran.

It wasn't a trial per se.

A Grand Jury deemed there was insufficient evidence to bring the issue to trial.

Given that it's said that a Grand Jury in America would indite a ham sandwich; it's fair to say that someone, a black man at that, walking away without a legal blemish shouldn't be subject to further non-judicial punishment.

Basically the NFL is not a court of law, they have rules that players agree to abide by. My assumption is that there's enough evidence he did SOMETHING, that even though he was found criminally not guilty, it's conceivable the NFL might still say but you violated OUR rules. Hopefully not he already missed a year while everyone waited out the criminal stuff.

His case and Watson differ in that the grand jury for Watson ruled 9-3 that they didn't think it warranted a criminal trial. So he wasn't found Not guilty they said there's no point even having a trial. Gladney had a trial, but was found NG by 12-0. Grand juries in most states including Texas don't have to be unanimous. So there was enough evidence in his case that the grand jury said yes there should be a trial, but in the end they unanimously found him NG.
