Cards to try out 2 punters

At least two veteran punters are expected to try out for the Cardinals Tuesday, according to NFL sources.

Chris Gardocki, a 16-year veteran, and Tom Rouen, who has 13 years of NFL experience, are expected to get a look Tuesday. If the Cardinals don't sign one of them, they could turn to a second group, which might include Paul Ernster, a Glendale Ironwood High and Northern Arizona product. Ernster, who lives in the Valley, has been with the Broncos and briefly with the Browns. That group could also include veterans such as Josh Miller and Mitch Berger.

Gardocki, 37, has punted for the Bears, Colts, Browns and was with the Steelers from 2004 to 2006. Rouen, 39, was out of the league last year but was with the Seahawks from 2003 through 2005.

The punters are auditioning to replace Mike Barr, who has struggled in his first year in the league.

This is a great idea with 2 punters one can punt it, then the other can catch it and punt it again. That way we ought to be able to average at least 40 per punt.

Don't forget the punter is also the holder. Why not bring back Player. He may not punt as far, but he also may increase Racker's confidence.

Didnt Rackers shank a few last year with Player holding it?

Yes, Rackers sucked with Player holding last year.

And the main reason fans said they were ok with Player coming back last year and cutting Capshaw was because Rackers liked the way he held it.

I don't care about Rackers holder...he sucks with or without his favorite holder.

I want a punter who can punt.

Gardocki is probably going to be the guy, since he is a Steeler guy. And I'm cool with that. He's better than Barr.

Oh, and Rattay can hold...he's experienced there too. It doesn't have to be the punter. I actually prefer a QB holding than a punter, so on a broken play you have someone who can throw the ball.

I knew Player did, it was a rhetorical question..

Yeah I seem to recall he held in SF at one time although I'm not positive of that.

We could always sign Jake Plummer as the holder.

lol.. He's too busy playing pro hand ball..

this pic has not been photoshopped

I admire Jake. Not for being a pro handballer (uhm...ok) but because he just does not give a f. He does what he wants because he wants to. Good for him.

Yes, yes he does. I never said that it doesn't appear he wants to look like a dork...just that he's happy looking like a dork. :D

Little known fact he's not actually playing handball in this pic, he's using mind control to hover that ball in midair.
